Why didn't Jesus die for the other thief?

This is the question. Jesus paid for the sins of the thief he assured of salvation during his crucifixion. But not the other.

Why not?

Well, they both reviled Him so something must have caused a change in the one thief between then and his statement - "Lord, remember me when you come into Your kingdom."

Jesus revealed himself to the saved thief. It's a perfect picture of what takes place in salvation. First, we have the "King of the Jews" (Jesus). Jesus teaches that unless a person is born again, they cannot see his Kingdom. So the thief was born again sometime before or during his crucifixion. And recognized Jesus in his kingdom.

“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 16:17 (KJV 1900)

Wouldn't have been before the crucifixion since he reviled the Messiah while they were on the cross.

It seems but until the revelation, he probably assumed Jesus got what he deserved. This is why we preach the gospel. To inform God's people scattered abroad of their salvation and to promote Holy living.

Jesus never said He wasn't dying for the unrepentant thief. You're adding to scripture!

The one with faith is the one Jesus guaranteed would be in paradise.

But he did not, or both thieves would have been saved.

Once again you refuse to see how faith enters the equation.
Only saved people can have faith. It's a fruit of the Spirit. Flesh faith cannot save, it only deceives people into thinking they saved themselves.

No one can save themselves, but faith comes by hearing. The one thief knew and had faith in the promised Savior. The unrepentent one didn't trust in the promised Savior, thus damning himself.

But unless born again you cannot discern the truth. Hearing? You hear Honest Charlie's sales rap and buy his cars. But the gospel doesn't work this way. Unless born again you cannot see the King or the kingdom of God.

Do you think hearing the preached word creates faith in your heart? Paul says: “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV 1900)

You say what about?“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” 1 Peter 1:23 (KJV 1900)

This is a popular verse trying to prove hearing the preached word regenerates the audience. But it clashes with the above verse and many others. A better translation is: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, [according to] the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” 1 Peter 1:23 (KJV 1900)

Wrong. The Bible does not state that Jesus died for one but not the other. You just made that up, confusing you with God (which you do a LOT)

Again, your horrible heresy.

Your whole premise is that faith is irrelevant, faith is a joke, faith has nothing to do with personal justification. You proclaim that if Christ died for someone, that person is thus personally justified - you eliminate faith, you reject any role of faith. This is heresy. Your whole sick, horrible theology is founded on a heresy.

It's disgusting to have you posting heresy all over this website. Always but especially at Christmas.

If Jesus paid for the sins of all as you say, why isn't the other thief saved? The sin of unbelief included.

Dave's whole theology rests on heresy.

Here we see his very foundational heresy that faith is irrelevant. He insists that if Christ died for all (as the Bible so often verbatim states) then all are personally justified. He eliminates faith. Gone is the Fide part of Sola Gratia-Solus Christus-Soli Fide-Soli Deo Gloria.

Concerning for whom Jesus died...

"So that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.' Hebrews 2:9

"For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all." 2 Corinthians 5:14

"He died for all." 2 Corinthians 5:15

"Who gave himself as a ransom for all." 1 Timothy 2:6

"Christ died for the ungodly." Romans 5:6

and many more like them.

And the Bible clearly teaches that faith is not irrelevant, not a joke but is actually essential to personal justification. Not JUST the Cross but the Cross AND faith. Both the work and gift of God.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing but is the gift of God." Ephesians 2:8

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

"God justifies him who has faith in Christ Jesus." Romans 3:26

"Everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” Acts 10:43

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved." Acts 16:31

And so very, very more Scriptures just like the above.

Your heresy. All your theology seems founded in disgusting, horrible heresy. Terrible every day but especially at Christmas.

See posts 13 and 16. Etc. etc., etc. You've been corrected on this many, many times but you just don't care. False teachers never do.

Complaining will not help. the Study of the subject, starting with Martin Luther, Lectures on Romans will.

Not necessarily. Some people refuse the forgiveness. That's another way of putting the principle that you always miss or have no willingness to talk about.
