What was the "celebration restaurant" your family ate at when you were a child that you didn't realize was not, in fact, a 5 star establishment until you were an adult?

Too poor for restaurants unless our grandparents paid and then it was a place called the Wheel or something like that. Just a family restaurant.

What was the "celebration restaurant" your family ate at when you were a child that you didn't realize was not, in fact, a 5 star establishment until you were an adult?

I don't know about celebration specifically but I remember a restaurant where there was a big line of seats outside. You'd take your place on the seats outside and, as people were shown to a table you'd move along the row. When you got to the end it was your turn when the next table was available. I remember when I was maybe 5-6 years old and feeling like it was a huge privilege to eat at this restaurant.

It was in a department store.

My dad's boss took our family to a lavish house restaurant in the countryside every year at Christmas. I watched others to see what eating utensils I should use. We then went to the Boss' home and opened gifts.

It was B&K Root beer stands until next Christmas.
