Depends what you mean by "clean" the phone.

If you mean wiping the screen to get finger smudges off, probably every few days. If you're talking about cleaning it with alcohol wipes or something, more or less never.

Germs can be spread onto objects after touching other things like dirty doorknobs, and handles, toilet levers for those people who feel the need to take their phones in the bathroom, etc...

When I do wash mine, I just use a paper towel with a little soap and water, squish out the extra water and rub the towel over the case.
