About time and no I dont use it nor have I ever but everything I read tells me it should have been legal a long time ago
I wonder if it's actually legal for any president to use the pardoning power to pardon a whole class of people, irrespective of anything but a change of heart concerning their category of offense.
When any president pardons several hundred individuals towards the end of his term in office, the claim is made that he's studied each case and found a particular reason for clemency that applies in that person's unique circumstances. But not everyone who was prosecuted for pot possession, period.
Next it could be everybody who was convicted of sexual misadventures with a minor (yes, there are special interest groups who want that to be normalized) or perhaps all prisoners in federal prisons who are there because they smuggled anything at all, regardless of whether it was a forbidden food or a suitcase full of heroin or rifles.
Duh it's political and imo it's un-republic like (assumes a power the president shouldn't have in the place, right along with "executive orders"), but at least several thousand users of an herb God provided to be used will be set free.
Duh...every form of government is 'political'. Duh...a republic is political.
My opinion.

I find it curious how the US broke away from British rule because they didn't want a king ruling with so much executive power, only to end up with a president issuing executive orders, state governors issuing executive orders, and more layers of government and regulation than the nation they broke away from.
And our taxes are out of control! Where I live I'm taxed for everything.
