That's true. And much the same observation can be made about the Republican Party in the USA.I couldn't help observe that for all the criticisms thrown at the Conservative Party for being racist/sexist/whatever, there have been three female Prime Ministers in the history of the country and all three have been from the Conservative Party.
It looked, from afar, that the list of possible replacements for Boris didn't offer anyone else who was much better than she.I don't know about about Liz Truss to take a view on whether she'll be any good.
Yeah. When have we ever before wondered if the Parliamentary system might be better than the mess we live with? When I was growing up, the accepted wisdom was that a Parliamentary system of government was prone to instability, whereas ours was protected from that problem. Now we suspect that it's the politicians who are protected from the voters.I just wish politicians in the US paid an electoral price for ignoring their own rules in the same way Boris did. It's even worse in the US, given that state governors can issue an executive order and then apparently ignore it with impunity.
