Welcome!

Friendly question: I note that you define yourself as an agnostic yet say you agree with the Nicene Creed and with the teaching of the Trinity. Could you explain?

Sounds like a contradiction doesn't it? Lol. I don't really feel like explaining my personal beliefs to anyone as they are personal. Also I came here mainly to participate in the non-religious sections of this forum. Thanks for the welcome though.

It doesn't just sound like a contradiction; it is a contradiction. And you volunteered both replies.

That being the case, I'm sure you can appreciate how other members were interested to know which version of our new member is the correct one. :) But it's not that either profile is going to scandalize us.

Also I came here mainly to participate in the non-religious sections of this forum.
Very good, and you are quite welcome to participate on those forums.

More like 'forced' as they were mandatory fields on the registration page.
Yes, I agree that you were asked. However, when you choose to give contradictory replies to those fields (an impossible combination of them, in fact) should you be either surprised or offended at other members asking you for a clarification?

Either you are an agnostic OR you believe the tenets of the Nicene Creed. (?)

There wasn't any hostility involved in asking you about that, since you freely gave those answers.
The other people here just want to get to know you. By the way also, it's not unusual to have a person's later posts be misunderstood thanks to what readers had been led to think that person believed in...based, logically enough, upon the answers that had been given by him in those mandatory fields.

Thanks! :D

Yeah, we have to know that field because there are certain areas that only those who believe in the Trinity and adhere to the Nicene Creed can post in such as Christian Theology. Since agnostic by definition does not believe in the Trinity, I'll go ahead and change that field in your account to No.

Well this has been an interesting start to my membership here. @Lamb feel free to edit my account responses to whatever makes your confrontational members feel more comfortable with my existence here. Lol.

@Nebulous

Nope, no one here is or has been "confrontational." You freely chose to describe yourself in a contradictory way: as both agnostic AND also as accepting the Creed and Trinity. Obviously, that calls for either clarification or correction. Not only because of truthfulness but also because our rules here mandate that certain subforums are limited to those who accept the Creed and Trinity (and thus are Christians, not Agnostics). Since you chose to not clarify things... and since you noted that you don't want to discuss matters of faith anyway.... I think Staff did the right thing in changing your profile to one who does not accept the Creed and Trinity. Staff simply removed your contradiction without in any way restricting you from subforums you stated you aren't going to post in anyway.

It seems to me that everyone here is pleased to welcome you and have you in the community. And since it seems you have no desire to discuss matters of faith here anyway, your contradictory self-description regarding your faith is perhaps irrelevant and you aren't impacted by Staff now limiting you to the areas you state you are only interested in.

Again, welcome. I look forward to reading your posts in the many threads here that have nothing to do with Christianity.

I know they seem to come on strong, but it's important to know where someone stands according to their beliefs. That's why they wanted clarification from you.

It all seems to be settled now :)
