You know, I "get" it..... I've read a number of posts and articles over the years - not only from Christians concerned about giving kids FALSE ideas about Christmas (and perhaps undermining them as they ALSO talk about God) and from secular folks just concerned bout lying to kids. I get it.
But frankly, I think their concern is likely not valid. I was embraced in the whole santa thing as a kid, and it didn't ruin me (well, MAYBE that IS the reason!). Kids live in a fantasy world, I think if anything, it enriches them (BTW, seen adults at a Star Wars Movie?)
And of we know this all comes out of traditions about St. Nick and giving. THAT by the way is how my parents told me about Santa (after my brother spilled the beans) - that while a lot of "fun traditions" were put around it, there's a true story about a bishop long ago, a Christian pastor, who gave gifts. AND I was told about the Magi.
But I'm no "Dr. Phil." Not even a parent.
