The fruitarian (fruit-based) diet

What are your thoughts on the fruitarian (fruit-based) diet? Do you think that you could live predominantly off fruits?

I'm vegan and I wouldn't be interested. Too expensive, for starters. Fruits are a seasonal item so more expensive in off months. Plus it's usually necessary to eat more of them as they are usually less calorie dense than grains/seeds. It's easy to meet nutritional requirements on a vegan diet but an even stricter diet such as fruitarian I would wonder about. I've heard of some that do it, and I enjoy fruit, but it wouldn't be for me.

It depends. During summer I eat more as my trees and plants bear fruit. So sometimes every day. During fall/winter/spring I eat what I have stored on occasion or what I purchase from a store or trade with neighbors who grow.

I love fruit but couldn't imagine eating only fruit.

In the summertime here we can get a lot of fresh fruit direct from the farmers, which is great. When they are in season I go through strawberries and raspberries at a tremendous rate. Now apples are in season and my wife and I eat quite a lot of them. I've often considered growing stuff myself but round here the prices are pretty low and it seems like it's easier to let someone else do the work of raising trees and keeping the bugs off.

I keep thinking about getting a dehydrator so I can preserve fruits and enjoy local produce year round.
