IMHO again:
Time, times, continual

To be repeated continually, or done once and established forever.
II Kings 4:9 kjv. + many translations
9. And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually
10. Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.

The OT traveling priest came by many times.

Jesus made one trip to the Right hand of the Father. Once. But, his intercession is continual.

Jesus is the first fruit from the grave. He does not have to die continually. One time.

The OT actions took place each year, but Jesus had a day that established things forever. This is another concept that makes understanding the transfer of OT facts to NT doctrine tough.

As a gentile I need background information, and the OT provides the background. Hard to understand, but there just the same.

Does a concept exist in different contexts? A preacher / bishop (?) is compared to an ox?

You aren't a gentile nor a pawn in need of a bishop.

INTERESTING QUESTION!

We know that early Christians used the OT to support their faith. Jesus Himself did this. And of course, we are bold to embrace the OT in our Scriptures.

BUT.... is there any CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE that would be different if we didn't embrace those OT Scriptures as canonical? Hum. Maybe not. We use a lot of OT passages as deutero (supportive but secondary and not norma normans) but any where the Dogma rests primarily (or exclusively) on the OT? Not that immediately comes to my mind.

Maybe some Calvinist doctrines are based partially on the OT? Or perhaps because its based in Romans where Paul employs specific OT references in depth for concordance of his teaching?

Ephesians 2:11 kjv
11. Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12. That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13. But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

I do not want to make this too wordy. I will leave others to read verse 14 to the following verse:

Ephesians 2:22 kjv
22. And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

As a Mississippi redneck it appears we have two special foundations for our beliefs.
First - the disciples become apostles
Second - the prophets.
And
Chief corner stone Jesus Christ

Of course I use the law, but not the surface statements of the law, but the deeper hidden meaning. Which must not be for everyone.
(Does not the law say the same thing).

Pure religion and doctrine is found in Torah(OT).

[Deuteronomy 6:4 NASB] 4 "Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!
[Mark 12:29 NASB] 29 Jesus answered, "The foremost is, 'HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD;

Although quoted once in the NT, the concept of ONE GOD is born and rooted in the OT. Without the OT, the Doctrine of the Trinity might have been lost to something more of a three person pantheon.
