But, but, but, science says face socks don't make breathing difficult.

It sure as heck does for me. I am just a few months younger than Biden and I cannot tolerate a face mask more than about 20 minutes tops or I will start to gag. I also have balance issues --- I have to be damn careful on steep stairs especially going down. None of that has the slightest thing to do with my cognitive abilities. Biden could do his job from a wheelchair or even a hospital bed. I see absolutely nothing to suggest dementia. But then I am not a skilled psychiatric diagnostician.

But it can't possibly do that. Science says so.

On a more serious note, I'm a generation younger than you and I refuse to wear a regular mask for the same reason. On a hot day I don't even get 10 minutes before I struggle to breathe. A few years ago I was doing some work in my house and had an N95 mask literally crumple on my face as I tried to take a deep breath through it, and that was after no more than 15 minutes. Which is just one reason why I don't blindly accept every single thing prefixed by "studies have shown..."

I'm not particularly interested in trying to diagnose someone remotely, whatever office they hold. It's worth noting that even people who voted against Biden can express concern at signs that he might not be up to the job without it being a purely partisan issue.

Just look at pictures of Senator Obama in 2008 compared to the pictures of President Obama in 2016. Eight years passed and in that time he aged visibly - from the lines in his face to the gray in his hair. The job is demanding - it's an observation rather than a critique of the merits or otherwise of Obama's presidency. Love him or hate him, he definitely aged more than most of us would in the time, in those eight years. It's hardly a surprise, I don't imagine that being president means you get to just sit in the Oval Office and put your feet up until it's time to seek re-election. Given how demanding it is, it doesn't seem unreasonable to express concern if the president shows signs that may point to cognitive decline less than three months into his term of office.

The tendency of Republicans to focus on "He's old, he's infirm, he's useless" and the tendency of Democrats to insist "Everything is just fine, nothing to see here, move along" really does nothing to address concerns that the demands of the presidency might take more from him than he is willing or even able to give. Of the two candidates I'd have voted for Trump (not because I cared for him, I just see him as the lesser of two evils) but I'd rather see a strong and effective president in office even if it's not the guy I'd have chosen.

There's a good reason why it's been 62 days with no presidential news conference. There's a good reason why he won't answer true press questions, only the pre-screened approved ones. There's a good reason he mainly sticks to the Delaware area instead of venturing out into the vast country that he "leads". There's a good reason why Harris is the one dealing with international diplomats instead of him.

That reason is that he isn't capable of leading us.

The reason that his administration hides the fact that Biden is hiding is because our country will look weak in the eyes of other nations and especially our enemies. Claims of his hiding because of the Pandemic don't hold water anymore. Masks work, right? No? 6 feet? 3 feet? C'mon man!

Perhaps he is wearing a mask, to make him look like a black woman. Nobody said a mask had to be as simple as a scrap of fabric across the mouth, maybe it's a full face mask he's wearing.

Wasn't FDR the president who couldn't walk and hid it from the public? Because he believed that it showed weakness. That's what this makes me think of.

There's a difference between someone who is mentally sharp but physically declining, and someone who is mentally declining to the point they can't do their job three months into a four year term.

That's not to say Biden is in such a state (I haven't seen him so don't know for sure) but I think the nation has a right to know.

It's not just about whether a man can walk.

Early dementia signs show that people have trouble with coordination and balance. My mother-in-law experienced that and at first we thought she was just getting clumsy. We made excuses for her. We said it could be some of her medicines causing it. We were in denial.

Other signs that I listed in a separate thread here in the health forum about dementia go along with the things Biden is struggling with. My mother-in-law started off that way too where even the littlest of things we rejected were a problem because they came on so gradually and we were getting used to seeing them.

Staying away from social engagements, avoiding people, using wrong words (that has nothing to do with word replacement of stutterers), etc. Read through the thread I started about signs of dementia then go back through some of the videos on YouTube (search Biden gaffes) and it will start making more sense.

If Trump did this the left would never shut up about it.
I believe he did stumble once on a visit overseas and the press did jump on it. Just like they jumped on Hilary passing out while she was campaigning

Found a story comparing how the media covered Trump vs Biden in similar situations:

But compare how the media covered Biden’s fall with how they covered Donald Trump’s slow walk down a ramp after he delivered a graduation address at West Point in June of 2020: According to the Media Research Center, CNN devoted 22 minutes and 13 seconds to Trump’s walk down the ramp, and MSNBC devoted 28 minutes and 42 seconds to the story.

Why so much time? Because it provided liberal news outlets that were no fans of Trump with the opportunity to question his physical and even mental fitness for office.

When Biden, who is 78, fell and it was treated as simply a slip, something we’ve all done at one time or another. But with Trump, who is 74, it was treated as a sign of potential serious health questions.

The media may've been unfair in their conclusions of trump.
But from what I've seen in videos trump is less athletic and physically coordinated than biden.
Biden slipping steps in the way he did showed his vigor.
Note what sort of shoes he was wearing along with the size, covering, and steepness of stairs he attempted to bound.

His quick reactions at the first slip showed cognitive reflexes contrary to symptoms of dementia.
I find it amazing that the last 2 presidents of such late an age have held to The Task of serving a nation.

Blessings Always.

It shouldn't have taken 3 stumbles before uprighting himself. That doesn't show vigor at all. That last stumble was a doozie.

I read an article yesterday (can't find it now) in which a number of Republican senators expressed a view that, having met with Biden, they didn't see anything that concerned them.

That doesn't necessarily mean he's perfectly coherent but also suggests the situation isn't as clear-cut as "he's senile" that some observations might suggest.

Yes the last stumble looked like he may of sprained his ankle or knee.
Nothing too serious except for bruising.

What does that have to do with dementia?

There are different kinds of dementia and early signs of having dementia could be balance issues, muscle weakness and mobility.

I've witnessed dementia symptoms firsthand and its difficult to observe unless with the person nearly 24/7.
Symptoms are things such as memory loss, erratic behavior, violence physical and verbal, reverting to childlike mentality, isolation, repetition similar to ocd, etc.

Dementia is a diagnosis based on mental symptoms to which the cause is unknown until testing finds it.
Alzheimer's early symptoms are similar but testing is helpful for treatment these days.

With dementia its difficult to convince the afflicted person to be tested because they are in a state fear denial.
Likely due to the gaps in memory and awareness.

I've seen what I can only describe as surreal from a person suffering from dementia.

It is very serious condition that affects caretakers who endure the actions of the afflicted person.

I don't think its appropriate for media or the public at large to make a speculative claim as serious as this.
Its a form of gossip and disrespectful to the institution of government.

Blessings Always

Gossip is when there is malicious intent. Expressing concern for the leader of our nation is nowhere near malicious.

Excellent point about malice.
Was malice involved when trump was accused of the same conditions of ineptitude?

If not; why is there a distinct difference between a blessing and a curse.
Doctors have already given biden a "bill of health".
Meaning cleared for service.

To challenge the institution is malicious/disrespectful far as I can tell.

Don't you agree?

Do you see now what I meant about time stamps?

My last post was 47 mins ago.
Yet somehow your post advanced a few minutes ago?

What is going on?
