The Bible says nothing about animals or a stable.....

However, it does mention a manger (used to feed animals), and some hold this IMPLIES animals. However, we cannot know for sure since mangers were portable and may simply have been used by the Holy Family.

Ancient TRADITION says that Jesus was born in a cave in which animals were kept. And this certainly is textually POSSIBLE and personally I'd give that tradition considerable weight, but we can't be sure and the Bible does not say that.

The text IS reliable... but sometimes it's important to note what the Bible SAYS and does NOT say.

A blessed Christmas season to all....

Portable water vessel like a laver (Hebrew: כיור נחשת‎ kîyōr nəḥōšeṯ) for washing.
Intriguing perspective.

Thankyou and many blessings

I agree that a cave is very plausible considering the topography of the area traveled. Along with the fact that a large caravan(camel/donkey/and families) would have been very lacking in privacy.
Ie crowded and busy with all the individual burdens of traveling.

Where as a barn or stable are not part of the hebrew culture nor agriculture during our Lords time.

I wonder if anyone reading here has studied the hebrew infrastructure amongst their own lands of israel? Water(wells, streams, rivers) and means of travel according to resources developed over centuries of time.

I doubt the roads were straight in the sense of the current definition of a level grid.
Their paths would of likely been from one well straight' to another' with fellowship leading them in hope.

Something of which I imagine caused the greeks and roman's dismay till they were trampled under foot like ashes.

Thank The Lord for the washing of feet.

Blessed be The Holy One

plausible

Possible - yes. Plausible - sure. Certain - nope.

The opinion that Our Lord was born in a cave among animals comes from TRADITION... ancient, widely embraced but TRADITION.

It's even more ancient and more widely-embrace TRADITION that tells us Mary had no other children, which is also textually possible and certainly plausible. We sometimes find that while variant OPINIONS are textually possible, tradition is ancient, strong and ecumenical around a certain view.

You suppose they put feeding troughs in the same areas where humans live?
Manger | Definition of Manger by Merriam-Webster (merriam-webster.com)

Tradition based on evidence gleaned from the Bible is how I know that the Blessed Virgin Mary gave birth to Our Lord and Savior in the humblest of circumstances, in space provided for livestock. Many truths we cling to we cling to by faith, backed up by Scripture and centuries of tradition Why was Jesus born in a manger? | GotQuestions.org.

The Sea of Galilee is a fresh water lake and is fed by the (upper) Jordan River and underwater springs. Restaurants will serve you St Peter's Fish which is just another word for Catch of the Day.

Why then is it called a sea of salt water by historical records from romans and greeks that know better?
Perhaps bitterness against the hebrews is involved.

The Bible doesn't say.... other sources do.... NOW, pray tell, what does THAT have to do with whether Jesus was born in a barn?

The Bible does not tell us that Jesus was born in a barn or cave or house or even outdoors - only that it was not in a "kataluma" (a guest area of a home). The Bible does not say animals were present, only that He was laid in a manger (used to feed animals). TRADITION (ancient and ecumenical) is He was born in a cave with animals present - and that is consistent with the text (possible) - and I'D hold that such Tradition be given considerable consideration - BUT that is not proof, it's not a certainty.

A blessed Christmas Season to all...

Here are a 100 verses concerning the large body of fresh water suspiciously referred to as sea(body of salt water) ie bitter.
Isaiah 5:20
Woe unto them that call evil good, And good evil; That change darkness into light, And light into darkness; That change bitter into sweet, And sweet into bitter!

The point of questioning English standards of definition is related to the topic posed by the op.
Far as I can see

Could you quote the verse that specifically states where Jesus was born?

With deductive reasoning, proper study of torah, and guidance from the ruach hakodesh(Holy Spirit) a person will find a reconcilable generality.
A safe secure and private place where a jewish mother is able to fulfill her days of purification.

The where is bethlehem .
A hebrew reference to house of bread if I recall correctly.
A place or structure where abraham is referenced to of visited.

Where rachael passed from this world.
