Another leisurely day off from breaking and rebuilding my house, although I did take some time to move a few more tools to the basement. A local friend has two kids who love the nearby flea market but doesn't care for it herself, so we took the kids for a quick walk around the market. They picked up a couple of bits and pieces. Then I went for my walk around town while my wife went to see another friend.

I now have my oversized switch plate, and I just need to tweak the standoffs I put in slightly so I can get that fitted. Then the room I've been working on for so long will be done.

Moving stuff out of the way is proving tricky. I really need better storage for my growing collection of tools but right now don't have a lot to work with. I think I'm going to build a basic set of shelves and get some tool bags so I can keep stuff together. That way I can do simple stuff like keep my random orbital sander in a bag with a few sanding disks, my belt sander in another bag with a few sanding belts, my jigsaw in a bag with my blade set, and so on. Then I just need to grab the appropriate bag and know that the tool and relevant accessories are all in one place. Building some basic shelves should be easy enough - I can rip a 2x10 with my table saw to make some studs, bolt them to the ceiling joists in the basement, and then cut shelves out of 3/4" plywood. It will be pretty basic stuff but should last long enough to serve the purpose. I might even run a new piece of cable so I can put a power outlet there, which would let me charge batteries in the same place as I keep all the tools.

I went to Kohls for the first time since probably 2019! Isn't that crazy. I bought 2 shirts that were on clearance and only spent around $9. Now I'm doing laundry and wondering how I'll get the rest of my 10,000 steps in.

My walk around town gets me close enough to 10,000 that I can spend most of the rest of the day motionless and still make my goal. Today is day 69 in a streak of 10,000 steps or more in a day. The Garmin doodad I use awards badges for consecutive days of activity - 60 days of meeting your steps goal is something it will hand out repeatedly, as is 30 days of making 10,000 steps per day. I think it would let you change your steps goal to 500 or something, and then get the badge every 60 days for hitting your goal, which makes it all a bit pointless, but then gold stars on an app are only so valuable anyway.

Most days I do 10,000 steps but when I have medical procedures or we travel then I don't have the energy or motivation to attempt it.

My excuse for the days I don't get to 10,000 is lame compared to yours, it's usually because of weather issues. I can only do so many steps if I stay at home all day.

I got my walk in today while my wife was with a friend. At the junction where the 5-mile and 8-mile routes split part of me wanted to do the 8-mile loop but I just wasn't feeling it today so I did the 5-mile loop instead. Which was just as well, as I got home about 5 minutes before a huge band of rain came over the house.

The afternoon's plans were disrupted by thunderstorms with warnings of severe thunderstorms but, as usual, the weather that prompted a "severe thunderstorm warning" turned out to be a bit of wind and heavy rain for about 5 minutes before it blew through. Then it just rained for a couple of hours.

Happy weekend all! Today, I’ve just had leftover pizza with lemon iced tea for lunch. Tonight, just staying inside as it’s pouring cats and dogs outside before hitting the sack tonight.

It's sunny here but the forecast is for scattered thunderstorms that could produce "brief torrential downpours". The kind of thing I'd rather not get caught in if I'm out for a walk. So it looks like the walk will wait for later. In the meantime maybe I can fix a couple of small things in my work room to get the last bits finished off. That will be some good progress.

Glad we didn't go for a walk, just had a torrential downpour. The kind of thing that takes you from being dry to being soaked to the skin within 30 seconds or so.

I'm glad I wasn't out pruning the bushes when it came down. I ducked outside to prune back a climbing bush that partially blew down during the recent storms. I wasn't sure it really needed it but figured I could thin it out a bit. Looks like our walk will wait until later.

My husband and I walked down to see the cows at the Amish farm. They were sleeping. The work horses were enjoying themselves in the field though and were fun to watch.

Finally got internet service back after a(nother) outage. No internet and no phone for 16 hours. At least this time we got phone back after only 16 hours, the last major outage left us with no phone for three days.

Going to see friends at our favorite brewpub this afternoon. We got invited to join other friends for burgers this evening so we'll see if that's something that would work on a different evening. Even I can only eat so much meat....

Howdy sup there guys man! How are you today? Today, I’ve just had my usual weekly 3 hours therapy by phone and online. Tonight, I’m way too tired to do anything else but rest in bed before tucking myself to sleep.

Not much happening today. Cleared out the garden a bit because it's pretty much done for the year. I still have a baby pumpkin I'm hoping survives but the squash bugs are out of food and are all over it. Watching tv now.

Hey sup all! This morning, I’ve just gone outside for my usual walk, meditation, breathing exercises and yoga. It’s a very chill and crisp September day today, the perfect weather for my mindfulness routine. The afternoon, just enjoying my usual TV show before turning myself in tonight.
