Do you think that now that most countries are on lock down from the virus and companies are closed that new technological advances will suffer?

No, I think technology is going to increase as more and more people are using it to stay connected. I didn't even know what zoom was two months ago

I find that people are trying to learn a little more about technology. People that took it for granted. With that I believe comes more of a demand and with more of a demand comes more innovation. Technology isn't developed on an assembly-line. So smart people at home will come up with solutions for the new demand.

I hope it does. If this pandemic has shown anything, it was that humanity invests disproportionately into useless technology and not enough into medical research. That's why we currently have foldable phones on the market, but no idea how to destroy a virus.

Isn't it more of a money maker if you don't destroy something but instead make it manageable?

It reminds me of cancer and how it's a HUGE money maker with all the testing and surgeries and treatments and aftercare. All the people involved who are making money off it. Imagine if cures were given and all those people weren't needed to do their jobs anymore? Of course I want cures! But when I went through my cancer surgeries I lost count of all the people caring for me and how many supplies they went through for everything needed for surgery and care in the hospital alone. It's crazy.

It's possible, although I suspect a lot of technological advances come from the kind of people who are just as happy videoconferencing as meeting in person, or the kind of people who (literally or virtually) disassemble stuff to the point they can understand it and "build a better mousetrap".

The thing most likely to hold it back is that existing companies have grown so much during the lockdowns so the opposition, the companies big enough to get rid of competitors by burying them in fights they can't afford to even enter let alone win.
