Chilling with a beer and a movie. Having brought my wood home and stacked it ready to be cut (probably tomorrow now), I finished off a different workpiece. Our friends' daughter's birthday is today so I cut her name out of a piece of wood. This evening I cleaned up some of the rough edges. Tomorrow I can take a sander to it to soften the edges, maybe use a fine piece of wood to get into some of the corners with sandpaper, then I can think about lacquering it.

It's made from white oak so the grain pattern in it is really rather pleasing. I hope she likes it.

My wife went for coffee with a friend so I went for a longer, faster walk. I did the same route four days ago, it's a little over 8 miles. It's much the same route as we normally do but I replace one road with a longer loop to add some distance. Four days ago I wasn't pushing particularly hard but was still surprised today to have gone round seven minutes faster than last time, and more surprised to see how close I came to a personal best time for the loop even though I wasn't pushing to set one.

This afternoon I'm going to get on with some wood work, now I've got the wood to do the work. Then this evening I'm off to a ball game. A couple of friends of ours have a foster child who is playing and invited us to go and support them.

Hi all, how are you today? I’ve had a shower and a hair wash after breakfast this morning. Have gone out for nice walk outside by my home after lunch whilst doing my relaxation exercises outside too. It’s a beautiful and sunny day, 24C. Tonight, just enjoying a new Chinese TV show online called : “Dr.Cutie”.

Today I found that some of my window catches are broken. Trying to figure out what had happened to them took out a chunk of time I had planned to use to cut window trim. I'll call the supplier tomorrow - they should still be under warranty so they can come and fix them. I can still put the trim into place, as I don't know if the window people will be able to come right out to look at them. I just hope they don't want to take the window panes away - if they do they will have to give me something to fill the gaps because we've got thunderstorms predicted for later in the week.

My guess is that replacing the broken catches should be easy enough. I'm not sure how they broke but in the room I'm working on three out of four catches have broken in the same way.

Went for a longer walk today. My wife was out with a friend so I did my 8-mile loop. The sun was pretty intense by the end, my shirt was pretty much soaked through with sweat. A nice cool shower felt really good after that.

I could only walk a mile this morning because it was getting hot out already and I needed to spray all the bushes at our house for bugs before they kill them like what happened 3 years ago. I delayed spraying them and we're still seeing the destruction left behind. They're coming back though so that's good. I doubt I'll get much walking in this week with the excessive heat warnings through Tuesday.

How hot does it get where you are?

The secretary at my church thinks I'm crazy because of how I go out and walk even when it is hot. Sometimes I stop at the church on the way past to either top up my water or visit the bathroom - many of my routes go literally right past the church. Yesterday by the time I got home my shirt was soaked with sweat so I had a pint of water and then another pint of water with an electrolyte tablet in it, on top of the 24oz of water I took with me.

Today and tomorrow we're expecting temperatures nudging into the 90s. We're about to go for a walk now before it gets too warm. Tomorrow I need to keep my steps streak alive to meet a goal, which means I'll most likely be walking in 90 degrees or more. I might stick to the 5-mile loop rather than the 8-mile variation.

I'm looking forward to cooler days so I can explore a couple of much longer loops, combining a bunch of things I've come up with and seeing how far it ends up being. My record for steps in a day so far this year is about 24,000 but in the past I've clocked over 50,000. I'd really like to push my records for the year. When it cools down a bit I want to get back to the mountains, I miss walking in the mountains.

It's going to be 90s all week but the humidity makes it feel like in the hundreds.

Happy weekend guys! How are you doing with your day so far? This morning, been outside on the road by my home to take a slow walk and have done my meditation, breathing exercises and yoga outside despite the heat and humidity because it’s been a week since I’ve been outside so yeah. For lunch today, I’ve had leftover pizza with lemon iced tea. Tonight, playing some games on my phone and listening to music before bedtime.

I'm seeing a "feels like" peak in the mid-90s for the week ahead. Chances are I'll still be out walking in it, armed with water bottle :)

Stay safe! It's easy to pass out from the heat even when you're used to being outside. I am not even going to do my small loops for a few days because I get dizzy and don't feel right when the heat is this bad.

The recent heat has made me more tired than usual during the day. I wouldn't want to do one of my long walks without a water bottle. A few weeks ago I was out longer than I expected (I decided to explore a bit further in a new area) and ended up rerouting so I could go past the church and get some water. From there I cut the walk short because I knew another 5-6 miles in the heat wouldn't be good.

Hey sup there? I’ve just had leftover pizza with lemon iced tea for lunch today again. Have done my meditation, breathing exercises and yoga inside today as it’s too hot and humid to go outside today. The afternoon, my mom will be cutting my hair and tonight, will be taking my usual hourly bubble bath and hair wash. Have a great day everyone.

Went for my 8-mile loop today. My wife stayed home because it was hot. Depending on which report I read, one said 93 and one said 96 with a real-feel of 103.

I took my water bottle and figured I'd decide during my walk whether to do the 5-mile or 8-mile loop. They are identical for the first three miles or so, then diverge at a particular junction. At the junction I decided to go for the 8-mile loop but slowed the pace. Based on my perceived effort I expected my pulse to be running about 125 but it was actually running closer to 150, presumably because of the heat. So I ended up going round at a pace nearly 40 seconds per mile slower than the previous time I walked it.

It was hot but there was a nice cool breeze and it wasn't unbearably humid out. When I got back I really enjoyed the cool water from the shower, then some cold water, and then a cold beer :)

Got a few groceries to hold us over until next week and then went out into the garden. I picked more cucumbers and a zucchini. I saw another baby pumpkin growing too! I hope it doesn't rot like the last baby pumpkin. In a few minutes I'm going to work on making pickles out of some of the cucumbers.
