The neighbors are having trees cut down. All day long yesterday I heard the noise and at 6:57 AM I was awakened by the sound of chainsaws and all the other equipment. So I'm kind of cranky ;)

Supposed to have a meeting today but it got postponed because of this virus. Not sure it was entirely necessary to postpone but it is what it is. Not idea when it will happen now, hopefully it won't be delayed too badly.

I am watching the news. I've been working from home this week and we aren't making any home visits, maybe for a long time to come

Waiting for the rain to stop. It's going to be so warm outside today and tomorrow that I'll get some good walks in! The trails and parks are all closed so I have to do this around home.

Are your trails closed? Round here the park offices are closed but the parking lots are open and the trails are still available. I don't honestly think there's any way it's physically possible to restrict access to the trails even if someone wanted to.

Yes, trails are closed and so are parks. I'm guessing you could get a ticket for trespassing if they catch you right now. One of the parks is wide open so I'm surprised and no one is ever there when I've gone except maybe 2 other people. This is getting out of hand.

If you've got wide open spaces with nobody there it's hard to see why they need to be closed. I get the benefits of keeping a safe distance away from people but it sounds like your parks are much like my local parks - you can go there and spend all day hiking without seeing another person. If that isn't social distancing I don't know what is.

I know! It's too much of a restriction for my liking.

I haven't been in the woods for a couple of months now, what with feeling unwell, bad weather and having too much else to do. I've taken to walks around town instead, which aren't as muddy and don't require a drive over the mountain. They are also handy in that I can cover ground much faster, even if the views aren't as spectacular.

Today I'm going what we call "around the block" which is just walking about 3 miles around other blocks before returning home. I just need the fog to lift so I don't get hit by cars around the curves because there is not much room to jump unless I want to get in the poison ivy.

Do you have any hi-viz things you can wear? When I'm hiking in the woods and expect I may be out after sunset I wear a two-tone vest. It's part orange and part yellow with reflective stripes all over it. You can literally see me from half a mile away. I also have a bright yellow sweatshirt that's useful in colder weather - I wear it in the woods and when I'm walking around town.

Today's walk was a gentle stroll with my wife around our shorter loop. She's not keen on longer walks or faster paces so we stick to the one she knows and likes.

Bright colors only work if you have visibility when driving and since my roads are curvy and hilly with people driving 45 mph and no shoulder to rely on...well, it's somewhat scary no matter what color I wear because they wouldn't see me until the last second.

Ah, that complicates things a little. Where I walk most of the roads are the kind of things where you can see for miles. They have lowish speed limits (mostly between 25-40mph), not that very many people stick to the limits, but at least there are very few places where you can't be seen from some distance. Of course even then it only works if the driver is actually looking at the road rather than their phone.
