I want all of you to buy (or borrow from the library) a copy of the "Divergent" book series by Veronica Roth, read it, and share your opinions in this thread. The series is available as physical books as well as eBooks (for those of you who own an eBook reader). Those of you who already read it, let's begin discussing it. 👍

Can't I be Divergent??? :D I voted for Erudite since that appeals to me out of all the factions.

Have you seen the movies? I read the first book but can't remember if I read the others. I saw the 3 movies though.

I have. They were very disappointing, up to the point that I like to pretend they never happened. They deviated from the books and this showed in box office earnings, as the third one flopped so badly that the producers abandoned the fourth part.

I'll have to get all the books then to find out what's so different. Most movies aren't the same as the books and books are always better.

I would have guessed that Abnegation would appeal to you the most. Or Candor cause they always seek the truth. Why Erudite?

I love to learn. I learned how to play flute when I was 35 and I've been wanting to learn some coding too but keep putting it off.

I agree with your assessment. The trilogy was an interesting look at dystopia and the effects on a people with no moral compass.
The movies were hollow shells with really poor acting and writing.

Can you still play the flute? And how's the code learning plan coming along?

Yes, I can still play flute. I just don't do it as often because I need to get my flute cleaned and tuned and maybe even have the pads replaced and that's a lot of money. I haven't learned how to code yet. Too busy with other things.
