Ah, so it really isn't biblical. Thanks.
The Hebrew mind set is the mind that God worked with, delivering prophecies to their minds, their prophets, their faith, and that is why they are the keepers of the oracles. That is why they may be first, but also last.

These are the same Jews who are awaiting the Messiah?

The point made in my post is that the meaning associated with "moon as blood" was, at the time the prophets wrote, not that there'd be four lunar total eclipses in a row and whatever other rules John Hagee made for a "blood moon".

That makes sense. I'd say that the sun turning dark and the moon turning to blood still represents a future event but don't see a whole lot of reason to believe what John Hagee has to say about it. As the article I linked further up said, this has happened three other times in the last 500 years, so although it's rare it's not like it's the first time it happened since Jesus told us to be ready for his return.

Someone (not sure if it was this thread or another thread) made a comment about solar and lunar eclipses being two weeks apart. That's pretty much down to the laws of physics - for the moon to block the sun it has to be one side of the earth and for the earth to cast a shadow on the moon it has to be the other side. So a solar eclipse occuring two weeks before or after a lunar eclipse also has no great significance. If we saw a lunar eclipse and a solar eclipse within three days that would be hugely unusual.

I guess we're still in a place where claims are made with little to back them.

The various denominations, sects, and cults have had many claims about when the end would come. William Miller predicted 1844 and failed, Seventh Day Adventists claimed "within one generation" from 1844 and have failed too, Jehovah's witnesses had 1878 and 1914 and 1975 and failed, we've heard from people that 1984 would be the end, 2012, and now 2015 and all have failed. They fail because they think that performing calculations based on 1,260, 2,300, 70*7 (490) and various numbers from bible passages will yield the last day or last year and they are wrong. The faithful know their master's voice and will not listen to these bogus calculations and the fake prophets who calculate them.

Sure, attempts to calculate the end seem to immediately fall foul of Jesus saying that nobody knows the day or the hour except God.

In theory it's clearly plausible to tell the season - Jesus told us we could tell seasons - but trying to get too specific is bound to end in embarrassment or worse.

Don't forget the rapture theorists since Halley's book came out the first time with an end date.

How did you jump to closed canon...

Because just because they are Jews who believe in Messiah, it doesn't give them license to make stuff up. It still must be supported by scripture.

?? and Christians don't work up all kinds of theology?? A lot of discussion is not license to make stuff up, it is the nature of study and discuss. You are hard-lining to your own detriment. Lord works in mysterious ways and the support of scripture is there for conclusions you do not agree with. But then what else can be expected when there is so many verses that are without explanations or understanding... YET.... The human race is still working on it, God is just so far ahead of us, we can get confused but by trusting in Him, He will make scripture clear as we need to know. It will sound strange when first presented, but the Lord Himself will clarify.

Ever read Book of Enoch or Book of Jubilees? Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, just because RCC did.

I do admit to not liking the Hebraic-roots movement.

Yes. And good theology is based on scripture. Which is why a few of us have been asking for scriptural support.

The scriptural support is there, but you want more, and more only comes with Holy Spirit conviction. You will have to ask Him. Besides the blood moons have more to do with Israel than you.

Very true but coming on a christian board you also assume some level of scriptural understanding from all who show a christian icon but it seems that this is either lacking here or else demanding certain scripture is just a deflection tactic. I really dont think posters are ignorant of scripture so what else is at play then
