What's wrong with the car? :( Prayers for you!

Thanks Lamm I need the prayers. The car needs two tires, rotors a rocker side panel, hangers for the muffler, just a lot of different things unfortunately

Think I'm going to work some more on the patio table I'm making. It's the first time I've attempted to build anything that might be called furniture. So far the frame is built but it seems uneven, and I'm not sure if I've done something a bit wonky in the construction or if it's just because the basement floor is uneven. If needs be I can use a hand saw to cut a little off the legs..... bit of a drag but if that's what it takes then so be it I guess. I'm debating making the top out of regular spruce (cheap, can cut from pieces of 2x4) or whether to clean up some of the stack of fir or cedar I have floating about. Since the rest of the table is made from spruce I think I'll do that for this one, and then if/when I feel like making something a little fancier perhaps I'll make the whole thing from fir or oak or something.

Eating breakfast and doing laundry. I'll go for a walk in a few minutes before it gets too hot outside.

I got bored using a sander to clean up the floorboards I lifted from the attic so fed them to a planer instead. Taking 1/32" off the thickness cleared the grime away very nicely and it turned out the grain underneath is nicer than I'd expected. I think I'm going to make a picture frame out of some of it, for a picture I've been wanting to get framed for a while.

Got another walk in the woods yesterday. Thinking this week looks mostly sunny so might hit the trails a few more times. It's likely to be getting too hot for really long walks quite soon - I can only carry so much water with me - but no reason why I can't hit a few favorite shorter hikes more often.

Giving thanks to God for a miracle! All $1000 of the car repairs is covered and blessing of blessings I dont have to pay it back! God is so good and boy did he meet my need and now I have the money I dont have to pay back for other bills that it was intended for before this happened. This is such a relief and such a blessing, thank you for all the faithful people that made this happen and I am humbled to be blessed so richly. God bless all

I'd thought about going for another walk in the woods today but had a lingering headache (I think I was a bit dehydrated from yesterday) so took it a bit easier. That meant shifting boxes around in the attic and cleaning up the edges of some more pieces of the original flooring, followed by a general cleanup of the work space in the basement. It's remarkable how sawdust has an ability to cover just about anything even remotely near the cutting tools. I should probably see if I can attach a shop vac to the hand-held planer a friend lent me, that's particularly bad at throwing dust a great distance.

That was very kind of them. Good you'll have your car back and running again.

Yes it was quite a relief and it left me speechless. Jesus is alive and well in His chruchs

Got the grass cut today, then burned a load of sensitive paper that doesn't go in the recycling (old bank statements and the like), cut a couple of overhanging branches to make it easier to mow the grass.

Then I tinkered with the table I've been building. I measured it and everything was more or less as it should be, but it was still slightly wonky and I couldn't figure out why. It was an interesting exercise trying to get a table leg into the miter saw but with a bit of fiddling I got it into place, and shaved a whisker off the two legs that looked like they were longer. Now it sits level, so I can press on with putting the rest of it together.

Now I've got a bunch of clamps deployed, joining some pieces of wood together. I took a strip of cedar that was once part of the ceiling, cut some short lengths of it, and am using them to make a little plinth for a couple of my wife's ornaments. I've got a smaller one that has set but shouldn't be stressed until tomorrow, and another one that's currently gluing. For a time I wondered if I was getting ahead of myself with the number of clamps I'm accumulating but just making this plinth is using all six of my 12" clamps, so I think maybe I've got scope for more clamps. Going forward I think anything much bigger than 12" is going to shift to pipe clamps - I've got the makings for two 2' clamps, or two 3' clamps, or two 5' clamps. I'm contemplating getting a couple more clamp heads, which will mean I can make two 2' clamps and two 3' clamps at the same time if I need them.

I got up at 3:45 AM to drive my daughter to the airport...now I'm drinking decaf coffee and wishing my headache would go away. Should I nap?

Decaf coffee seems like a waste of coffee to me, especially if you were up that early. I was up about 7 to drive a friend to a hospital appointment and today decaf seems like even more of an abomination than normal.

I'm sensitive to caffeine and decaf has just enough for me.
