Another walk in the woods. I should do this route more often, it takes in another nice vista. Today felt pretty easy, it's got about 1000 feet of climbing over a little more than 2 miles of hiking. Some days it feels like a slog but today it felt like I just pushed up without much trouble. I like it when that happens.

There are a couple of options to make the hike a bit longer but last time I tried them (some years ago) the trail was badly overgrown for quite a lot of it. There are some options that would turn it into a really long hike but for now I don't need those. A few extra miles would be nice, but the most obvious option ends up spitting me out on a gravel road for the last 3 miles or so. The gravel roads aren't inherently bad, I'd just rather be on a trail in the woods.

It's not a problem for me. I have climbed above Yosemite Falls and stood at the edge of the cliff. My buddy and I figured you could stack 3 Sears Towers (now Willis Tower) on top of one another and it would be the equivalent of standing at the edge of that cliff. These towers for ziplining were only 50 or 60 feet off the ground. Not really high up at all. Just trust your harness.

Got back from a 14 mile bike ride along a river and grilled out burgers for lunch.

Had hoped the weather would be nicer today but it's the best we're getting for several days - lots of rain and storms forecast. So I'm off to the woods again. Not the big walk I'd been contemplating, but another 6 miles or so will be nice. I think I'll do the same walk as yesterday, take in a nice vista along the way.

Watched two State semi-final baseball games with my oldest son at CHS field in St Paul.
We plan on seeing all four division State Championship games on Thursday at Target Field where the Minnesota Twins play their games.

It's so humid this morning and severe storms will be arriving this afternoon/evening. I'll probably have my computer turned off then.

I have a doctor's appointment this morning. Part of my blood work lab results finally showed up on the portal and I was worried about it not being ready in time for my appointment since they moved it up to morning from afternoon.

Didn't sleep very well last night so taking it a little easy this morning. Once I've finished my coffee I'm going to get the ceiling fan connected in the guest bedroom. If it's not too warm I might tinker with some other electrical stuff while I'm up there. If I can get to everything I'm hoping I can rip out a load more nasty old cable. It will mean losing a couple of power sockets in the guest bedroom but all we use one for is a light, and all we use the other for is a fan. We'll have both in one place once the ceiling fan goes in.

I had the day off from work today. However, I had several chores to do today. I got them over as soon as I got up this morning so that I can spend the rest of my day relaxing and not have them hanging over my head because I put them off.

I got my ceiling fan fitted, although the elderly plaster wall didn't survive the process. It was infuriating, having spent a while cutting a hole just the right size to fit the back box, as I tried to get everything pushed back into the back box the wall crumbled. So now I've got a hole in the wall that's too big for the box. There's no point trying to repair the wall - the whole lot is coming down when I get to that room, so I'll just screw a wooden baton across the space and screw the back box to it rather than the wall.

Then I got some more of a patio table I'm building fixed up. I need to cut some more slats to form the top of it, then it's ready for sanding and finishing. That will be nice. My wife liked the idea of having a table I made myself on the porch.
