That scripture does NOT say faith is a free gift.
Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace you have been saved through faith and this is not your own doing but it is the free gift of God." Grammatically, the "this" refers back to "by grace you have been saved through faith."
1 Corinthians 12:3 ".... no one is capable of even saying "Jesus is Lord" (with meaning) unless the Holy Spirit so enables."
NO ONE IS CAPABLE of so much as chanting the words (and meaning them).... NO ONE. Certainly not a dead, unregenerate, atheistic enemy of God void of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit comes.... and gives faith.... it's a free gift.
Yes, God MAY use means to do this, "the means of grace" as these are called in Christian theology (and the proclaimation of the Gospel is one of these) but these are not tools for the dead, unregenerate, atheistic enemy of God to STEAL faith, nope, these are means the Holy Spirit uses to GIVE faith.
