Then the question becomes WHY did he lay it down, and our sin was the reason Jesus laid down His life and took it up again.
[1Jo 2:2 NASB] 2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for [those of] the whole world.
[1Jo 4:10 NASB] 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins.
Thank-you -
That was the point of the comment...
The Cross did not kill Jesus of Nazareth...
Nor did our sins kill Him...
He ASCENDED the Cross...
For the SAKE OF our sins...
And there He GAVE UP His spirit...
It was not taken from Him...
He GAVE it for our sake...
That we find Life in Him...
It was important to point out because it relates directly to the discipling of the faithful...
It dovetails with Christ's call to Discipleship where He is recorded saying:
IF ANYone is WILLING
AFTER ME TO BE FOLLOWING
LET HIM FIRST DENY HIMSELF
THEN
LET HIM TAKE UP HIS CROSS
AND FOLLOW ME.
You see, it is a big IF...
It is YOU who must be willing...
To deny your self in repentance from sin...
For the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven...
It is the Great Quest of human existence on earth...
Christianity in America is crumbling...
Because this is not understood here...
And few are they who do so...
May I add that SOME are?
A minuscule few?
A bare remnant?
