In the ages following the Lord's crucifixion and resurrection it was predicted that there would be false Christs and false prophets. People who would offer miracles and would, if it were possible, mislead the elect of God.
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect.
Behold I have told it to you, beforehand.
If therefore they shall say to you, Behold he is in the desert: go ye not out. Behold he is in the closets: believe it not.
For as lightning cometh out of the east and appeareth even into the west: so shall also the cowling of the Son of man be.
Wheresoever the body shall be, there shall the eagles also be gathered together. (Matthew 24:24-28)
We are living almost 2,000 years after the Lord's resurrection. Time enough for many false Christs and false prophets. Where did they try to lead the elect of God?

It's a few hectares of land with a lot of buildings and art works in them, I think about 1,800 people live in it. Did you have some particular person in mind for the title Antichrist.

Satan has always been active trying to decieve the elct by making them comfortable in church, leading them into false doctrine and decieving them about the power we have as believers through Jesus. Satan does not want us to tap into the power and heal and evangelize and show the love of God. For those who fill pews and are comfortable he will not war against those for he is content to leave them in their slumber

You are right. Many have arisen and tried to introduce 'damnable heresies' as the KJV says. Brother Albion astutely observed that the Vatican City may be one (perhaps the only?) place to which they tried to lead the elect. I agree that sometimes that was so, it may still be so. There appears to be many wicked people at work in the Vatican City. I hope that it is a minority, that they will not succeed in their wicked plots but there is always an attempt from Satan and his minions to deceive and to overcome the church of Christ.

Well, I assume that you have seen the pictures of the throngs of worshippers gathered in St. Peters square awaiting the appearance, on his balcony above them, of the object of their veneration.

But, lest there be any confusion about this, that was just one possible answer to the question you asked about where the false Christs might lead the elect.

Yes, you are right. The Vatican City and every other place can be a place to mislead.

I don't think it matters to the devil where they are mislead to as long as it isn't to God.
Some people make idols or false religions out of works, or a particular person or ideology and even sports or money can become a god.

Probably not EVERY other place, ;) But the HQ of the Church of Scientology, the Temple in Salt Lake City, and a few other such focal points come to mind if we are still speaking of false Christs rather than just places where someone might become a victim of religious misinformation.

You are right, I was not thinking of a place. I was thinking of a state. The 'where' is a state of mind and being rather than a location in space and time.

So how is the above to be understood? As meaning IN WHAT WAY have false Christs and false prophets tried to lead the elect?

….through false teachings is, I presume, the answer to that. :icon10:

The method is clear enough, false teachings and false examples coupled with false miracles are the means of misleading I think. I think that is what Jesus meant. The destination is not the same thing as the means of getting there.
