I am well aware that Dr. King was black but you find it necessary to state the obvious. What are you suggesting then? That it's only relevant if the statement comes from a black man and that Josiah a non-black man is irrelevant when quoting him?
Is that not racist?

You do me a discourtesy by putting unworthy thoughts into the words I typed.

I realize this was spoken by a citizen of the USA..... and a man named for Martin Luther.... and a Republican for all but the last 4 years of his life.... but MY dream is that the racism of this thread will END and that there will be no more thought (much less mention) of skin color. Even by non-Americans, non-Protestants and liberals.

To mention the word "racism" does not make a conversation racist, Josiah.

SIN means we put importance where it doesn't belong and don't put it where it does.

No Josiah, sin is lawlessness. "Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; indeed, sin is lawlessness." (I John 3:4)

But this is SIN and is not to be promoted and defended and willfully perpetuated....

OBVIOUSLY, that famous American preacher (who was named for Martin Luther) HATED the sin that caused people to threat people by the color of their skin RATHER THAN by the character of their lives. Because he saw that as SIN. Unfortunately, there are many in our world who are OBSESSED with outward things like gender, race, ethnicity, etc.... and equally who care less about character, integrity, morality.

I have a dream.... that this whole thread will be deemed very inappropriate and will be closed.

The words you typed were another mans words, I only pointed out that you had to distinguish his color for us and about his hardship as if we didn't know, I asked a question and I'm sorry you took it as "an unworthy thought" but I just want to know the importance of emphasising what race he was.

A conversation centered on the color of a person's skin is - by definition - racist.

Is the Song of Solomon a racist book?

The non-paraphrased quote is I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character. Spoken by a black man who knew how terrible racism can be and now tenaciously it clings to the mind even of people who think of themselves as good Christian citizens.

The words you typed were another mans words, I only pointed out that you had to distinguish his color for us and about his hardship as if we didn't know, I asked a question and I'm sorry you took it as "an unworthy thought" but I just want to know the importance of emphasising what race he was.

Please, explain which word or which words in my post are racist.

I never said it was racist. I asked a question of what you were suggesting/implying when you had to add in "a black man" in juxtaposition to Josiah's quote, as if HIS quote or paraphrase of Dr. King was irrelevant. It's the relation of the dialog between you and Josiah (actually your reply to him) that gave me a sense that this is once again a race issue with you or some sort of reverse racist accusation/liberal "thing" on behalf of everyone who refuses to sit and discern the color conscious importance of the penmen of the Holy Scriptures with you.

"I am well aware that Dr. King was black but you find it necessary to state the obvious. What are you suggesting then? That it's only relevant if the statement comes from a black man and that Josiah a non-black man is irrelevant when quoting him?

--------------------------

MC im not calling you a racist but you seem to imply that we are some kind of un-universal bigoted heretics, the thread title alone gave me that impression and we gave you our honest response but you still counter us with animosity. I may be dead wrong about my hunch but I have noticed your virtue of Americans as unaccepting to strangers or "brown" people and that is entirely untrue.
You mentioned a personal encounter you had in your own country which I assume is why you created this thread, you want to "stick it to the man" I get it, but when it comes to the BIBLE BELIEVERS here AT CH we are ALL COLORBLIND.
I don't like the "unworthy thoughts" of accusations that this thread title implies and again, speaking on behalf of Christianity Haven, SKIN COLOR DOES NOT MATTER.

Now, can we please move on to a discussion of what's in the bible?

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6:12

My apologies; it was Josiah who was writing about this thread being racist.

This thread is about race isn't it along with sly accusations against Americans from what I can tell and without proof of knowing whether or not someone is truly a racist then why make an implication of it?

MC has a very big heart and I admire him very much but I personally get ridiculed in the US for voting Republican, having "white privilege" and i've been threatened with a gun, a knife and "beheading" just because of the color of my skin... so any discussion of skin tone with a sly political aim or by any other means will always stir up my spirit.
The words of Martin Luther King apply to the world and not just his kids.

I live in Australia so don't assume that what I write is written as if I were a USA person. I know of USA culture but I am not writing as a USA person..

The point in the first post of this thread is that God doesn't dislike people for being brown yet a good number of people do.

A good number of people dislike white people also and so what there is racism abundant in all races you see.

Perhaps you didn't notice the FIRST word in the title YOU gave to this thread..... from that first word on.... yup..... racism. It's disgusting and I think it's condemnable, even in Australia.

Let me try and help with an anology.
Lets say MC that you are obviously attracted to women but your friends keep lecturing you about why you should be attracted to women, after assuring them over and over again that you are you notice more and more guys gathering around you still preaching to you that you should like women and why you shouldn't dislike women... Get it?
It begins to seem like they are accusing you right?

Could it be that there is an undeclared race between the races to see which race is the most racist?

And could there be a companion undeclared race between the races to see which race is most effective at promoting another race as being most racist?

Could those races really be just heats in the one combined race?

Will I get myself into hot water and take heat for bringing those racial heats to notice?

==============================================================================================

Australia is the only country in the world (according to my understanding) where someone can call a dark horse a fair cow, and be understood.

Australia also has the distinction of being the country in which a freshly elected lady politician with no affiliation with any major Party, was declared racist, because she stated in her maiden speech that everyone in Australia should be treated equally.

Could that be colouring our thinking somewhat?

Australia is the only country in the world (according to my understanding) where someone can call a dark horse a fair cow, and be understood.

Australia also has the distinction of being the country in which a freshly elected lady politician with no affiliation with any major Party,

Pauline Hanson was elected to the House of Representatives electorate of Oxley at the March 1996 election.

Hanson was disendorsed by the Liberal Party during the election campaign because of comments she made about Australian Aborigines. Because of the timing of the dis-endorsement, she appeared on the ballot paper as a Liberal candidate.

Oxley was a traditionally safe Labor electorate in Queensland, centred on Ipswich. Labor’s Les Scott held Oxley with a two-party-preferred margin of 14.65%. Hanson secured a swing of 19.31% and won the seat with a majority of 4.66%.

Hanson’s maiden speech to the House on September 10 caused a storm of controversy because of its criticisms of Aboriginals, multiculturalism and immigration.

The sentence in which Hanson claimed “I believe we are in danger of being swamped by Asians” became the most well-known line of the speech.

Visit here to read Pauline Hanson's maiden speech.
