I changed things around. Win7 is on the SSD and win10 on the HDD. I like win7 better on the whole but win7 is good for some things.

im reluctant in getting win10 when i get new laptop..all that privacy issues. if i do get it "out of curiousity" maybe ill move mine onto external drive

What makes windows 10 a little bit annoying is that it has too many 'touch screen' oriented elements and I am using it on a desktop that has no touch screen. But they did give the taskbar back and things work for most of my PC's hardware. Windows 10 does seem about as fast as windows 7 but it is also a bit foreign. I guess a windows 8 or 8.1 user would feel more at home with it.

I went back to windows 7 - it looks better than windows 10. I will allow the upgrade some time in the future but not yet.

I did a system backup for windows 7 and then let it be updated to windows 10. I've been using windows 10 for a few days now. I have ProgDVB and smartDVB for watching TV using my USB TV Tuner so I have nearly all the functionality I had under windows 7.

Windows 10 is a bit drab and very 'flat' (no 3d effects really) so it doesn't look as nice as windows 7 but it works and Microsoft has committed to maintain it for longer than windows 7 ... I'll stick with Windows 10 for a while, if it works well and nothing untoward happens I may keep it permanently. I have the comfort of knowing that I can return to windows 7 as it was when I did the backup :)

does it not have an appearance setting .. where you can set it to "appear as win7 " ..like in win 7 you can set it to appear as windows classic sort of thing ?

There is no "out of the box" facility for making windows 10 look like windows 7.

The longer a licensed copy lasts the less you need to spend when it comes time to upgrade parts in your desktop pc. A laptop is a different proposition, they tend to last only as long as their screen and that is usually not as long as a desktop (with a desktop replacing the screen is rather inexpensive).

I use a tablet sometimes but I prefer the desktop; it has a 24" screen :)

From my best guess (from how often Win 10 crashes), it'll take that long to work out the bugs. I get the dreaded "blue screen" about twice a week.

I haven't had a crash yet, but it is slower to close down than win 7 and win 7 looks better.
