Hello, CH Community!

We are pleased to announce that we have completed the first week of "Featured Threads" nominations. We are still in the process of ironing out the schedule of when the various aspects of this process should be done, but we will eventually get it set where the entire process will take exactly one week, and everything will take place the same day each week.

We wish to sincerely thank everyone who took part in the nominations process. There were many threads nominated, and by staff/advisor consensus, we have narrowed this down to the top 7 threads:

  1. Ruth's Friendship Fellowship, come on in, everyone is welcome - by Ruth (awarded 200 CH Cash)
  2. Daily Light - by MoreCoffee (awarded 100 CH Cash)
  3. False teachers - by Lämmchen (awarded 50 CH Cash)
  4. Inspirational Verses. - by toetapping
  5. Biblical "good" - by Lämmchen
  6. Paul is a Pharisee. - by visionary
  7. What does it mean to be separated from the world while living in it - by Alithis

Congratulations to the award winners and to the authors of all chosen threads!

One change we are implementing is that from now on, "Chat" threads will be ineligible for nomination. While these threads are fun, after careful consideration, we have decided they don't really meet the criteria we are after for "Featured Threads" which we think should be more substantive and thought-provoking. The existing chat threads will be given a new "Chat" prefix, and we ask that if you begin a new chat thread, that you apply this prefix when you begin the thread. If you do not, then a moderator will likely apply the prefix as soon as it is noticed.

So, thread nominations have been reinstated, and we look forward to next week's winners. :)

-CH Staff/Advisors

As [unm]Romanos[/unm] stated, nominations have resumed for the next round, so when you are browsing threads, and you come across one that you feel makes you think or see something from another angle and/or fortifies your faith or perhaps you just feel there is worthwhile content, then click that green "+ Add Nomination" button at the top of the page. :D

Although it is not a great big deal to me, I don't see why chat threads are being eliminated in your contest. It is obvious they are popular. Just because we talk about every day life and things involved in that shouldn't be a deterrent for us. Well, It is up to you what you do.

The Featured Thread concept was brought about to feature the threads that provoke more indepth conversations. Chat threads are wonderful and we love having them but the meat of our forum comes through other types of discussion.

Hi Ruth,

Lammchen did address it fully. We do appreciate all the threads on the site and especially the chat threads no doubt since they are a great interaction avenue. However, we shooting for thought and discussing provoking threads that tend to be the meat of the forum. Sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. :)

For some reason I was under the impression that what kind of threads would be honored would be voted in a poll. Excuse me if I am being too bold but someone told me this. It is not an inconvenience for me but I really don't understand what is deemed a good thread and what is deemed a less good thread. Thank you for hearing me.

No need to excuse yourself, I'm glad to hear you're expressing yourself with this. A good thread would be to where it is a meaty thread that spurs a great discussion such as a theological topic. Now that is not to be said that every theological topic warrants being featured, it's a case by case basis. :)
