Mariology

I've heard this term used before many times. How did this all come into play, since I've seen it come with a nasty tide.

Well I mean how does it fit directly into the mainstream Christian Theology? I'm probably not being quite clear, what I'm going at is how did the theology surrounding Mary become a large aspect of debate and theological discussion?

It's big because of Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy. I have no use for it myself. I don't see how it could be that important.

I've heard the terms Theotokos and Mother of God used before, but even one such as Co-Redemtrix which really throws me off.

I agree that it is bad theology in my opinion. Mary while blessed above all women is not our savior and belief in her will get noone to heaven

Correct. However, I don't agree with the way she's written off to where she's just considered another lady, or as someone I seen post once, she's just a dead lady.

Do you disagree with all aspects of Mariology?

I would put her along side other "heroes of the faith" (David, Moses, Joshua, etc). But that's it.

Very honestly I dont know as I dont know all aspects of Mariology. I do know that I would not pray to her or for that matter any saint as I believe it is Jesus that can intercede and get prayer answered.
