I've brought in bottles of water before. We rarely go to the movies anymore. It's probably been about 3 years since I last went? I do love the salty popcorn though!

my movie theatre experience has also diminished but yes for sure i like to take a pita bread salad roll ,, i don't consider it sneaking lol . i just feel iv paid for the seat and food consumption is allowed .
and i disagree with paying exorbitant amounts ($5 to $9nz) for what is about 15 cents worth of popped corn from their supplier and a soft drink cocktail of all things bad for me at x10 it would cost me at another shop . i guess i view the practice of forbidding food not bought on premises as a form of " criminal extortion " (due to the exorbitant costs charged ... )
i understand if its a restaurant -food is what they sell ..but the movie theatre point of business is selling movies -not food . so i have a problem with it .
albeit i think iv been twice in the last 2 years .and if the lord allows me ..id like to go and see the new star wars .. if he allows it . :)

Yes, I have taken candy and snacks in in plastic bags. They don't check your bags.

I have done it, but since so many idiots now spend most of the movie with their smartphones lit up like flashlights, I stopped going to movie theaters altogether.

yes, dont you hate that? ive seen a lot of inconsiderate folks who chat on phone during movie.

@Ruth it would be a terrible feeling if they actually implement rule of patting down before enter theatre.

Yeah, there's nothing like trying to watch a movie you paid to see and to which you have been looking forward, only to have the rows lit up like Christmas with all the phones accessing facebook. :banghead"

I think that would be a losing battle for sure...I think they would genuinely be hard pressed to understand why what they are doing is inconsiderate. It would be like trying to explain good table manners to a large rutting boar.

Nope. Actually, I rarely buy anything either. I'm not much of a candy eater, I don't like popcorn and my preferred drink is iced tea (which theaters never offer).... I may get a water.

Now we have theaters around here that serve "adult beverages" and a fairly extensive menu of food - served to your seat. I'll get a glass or two of wine and the cheese plate there (and be out a lot of money - the movie better be good).

Last movie I saw was "A walk in the woods" with Robert Redford. A movie kinda aimed at seniors I liked it.

I've never experienced adult beverages and cheese and wine at the theater but then I haven't gone in many years. I pay enough for entertainment with my tv and internet bill.

CINEPOLIS is a theater chain that has "luxury" theaters...... reserved seating, leather power recliners, full waitress service, full bar service. We have a few around here. Tickets are about twice the normal price, and the food and "adult beverages" are pricey - but it's very, very nice and helps make going to the movies a "date." I might add these theaters are very clean and smell good - and the chairs are quite separate from each other (with tables).... that alone makes for a nice environment. I have ordered a glass of wine and the cheese plate.

When I was in high school, I and a friend sneaked 6 cans of beer each into a movie theater (winter up north, heavy coats with lots of pockets). It was an action movie (forget the name) and when we wanted to open a new one, we would wait for a loud part in the movie to pop the top. The last couple were pretty warm, but we thought we were just too cool for pulling that one off...LOL!

Later we discovered small bottles of liquor were much easier.

I had an insolated 20 Shell cup which I'd take to the Mall & the movies with me. One time I was going into the theater and they wouldn't let me bring either the cup or something else into the theater. I walked over to K Mart which was right next to the theater. When I came out of the theater, my cup was in a K Mart bag. The theater left me alone then.
