Why do Christians think God talks with them?

Oh that reminds me. Another story I once heard in church. A guy woke up to go to church and God said he had to put a banana or banana peel on his head. So he thought: hey thats weird but God said it so he did it. Now another man that morning said: I only believe God exists if I see someone w a banana peel on his head.

No, He doesn't let ppl write new Bible books now, but for instance He told Paul to go to Macedonie, its handy if He tells you where He wants you to go. You don't just go to some church cause you feel like it I hope or serve Him somewhere where you can get a nice income and a nice house. I think He tells a lot of missionaries where to go. Some want to go somewhere themselves though and say He said it. One guy thought God spoke to him in an audible voice. He lived in America, was walking in the woods and heard: Go away! Go away!
So that was God and he went oversees to do missions. Later he came back. Turned out it wasn't God, but a go away bird.
I dont even know if those exist, but it was a hilarious story I once heard in church about hearing Gods voice.

Certainly the early church records times where God spoke to the Apostles. Is there reason to think all of us are treated like the Apostles where God speaks to us and tells us where we should go?

Yes why would He only speak to apostles? What about a preacher? Wouldn't God tell him what to preach or where?
The Spirit will teach you everything, thats said to believers. Strive for the gifts especially prophecying: God speaking, thats for regular believers, Paul didn't write the letter to Peter.

A preacher has the Bible, God's written word, to study and preach from. Any words from the preacher that are contrary to the Bible are not blessed by God.

I doubt God speaks to him or to any of his predecessors. (Hint: Peter was never a pope and likely not even a bishop at Rome, but that's for a different thread.)
I am still wondering what biblical evidence we have for God speaking to us outside of the Bible, which is living and active. Does God need to use anything beyond the Bible?

God uses creation - as a matter of fact the bible is comprehensible only in the context of creation so creation is necessary in a more fundamental sense than is the bible.

Lol my preacher said: preaching is the easiest job in the world. You just have to repeat what God says, the Bible.
Of course not but my preacher preaches a message we need today, the vision, why we have to go to another city, what God told him to do there, whats also in the Bible, disciple ppl give a school of ministry, first let the christians be prepared to get in the harvest. He preaches only from the Bible but what? Youre not just gonna start reading Genesis 1 this sunday Genesis 2 next sunday Genesis 3 the next. Well some preachers do but luckily not mine. Maybe God told them to do that, I don't know but I'd get bored to no end listening to that.

I went to one church years ago in the time of tape recorders and during worship we heard nothing weird but when they listened to the tape you heard angels singing.
If youre skeptic and dont believe it, it could have been my angelic voice of course.

I had prophecies from ppl that came true. I couldnt get kids. So one said: God says you'll get a kid.
I have 3 now.
