I just thought it interesting that the "Alt-Right" (still don't know what that is...) are the only intolerant ones instigating violence. Have to keep up the narrative, I suppose

IMO, the "White Supremists" and "Neo-Nazis" and the "pro eliminate-everything-associated-with-slavary" people who illegally CRASHED the gathering (often with the Press in tow and occasionally with weapons) is not the issue. EVERYONE (including Trump) powerfully and absolutely CONDEMNED and repudiated racism, anti-Judaism, Nazism - Trump did, Obama did (they both used identical language to do this). NO Republican politician and NO Democrat politician - on any level - stated their support for the beliefs of Nazis or Racists or anti-Judaism. NO ONE. And while some seemed to ignore that only one part of this actually was LEGALLY gathering where LEGALLY permitted (all the others - including the "Black Lives Matter" folks - were there illegally).
...

Saying that Nazis and Nazism are bad is easy ... Donald.

It depends on which news source. CNN is extremely anti everything except for the left. I am tired of going to their main page and seeing reporting against everything Trump has done in the past 5 minutes.

So I started going to Foxnews online and whoa, there's a ton of different news stories out there besides Trump climbing stairs the wrong way (fake example LOL).

The Washington Post is good at being objective in their news so sometimes I will read that.

How so? Many died foir that cause and without the war and America entering in we would probably all be speaking German and the Jews would no lionger be here

It infuriates me when US people thump their chests and boast about their country's contribution to WWII. The US sat on its pompous ass while the UK and the rest of the Commonwealth and British Empire (and even the wicked Soviet Union) held the Nazis at bey. I'm thankful that the US finally decided to join on the right side, after being forced into the fight, but it has nothing to be proud of.

Alt-Right is Alternative Right. They use it because they think that even the crazy Republicans are not right-wing enough for them.

Seriously? You frighten me. Did you realise that there is very little left wing of anything in US politics? Even the majority your Democrats (including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama) are right wing (or to be generous, centre right) when one compares them to the politics of other countries. Even your Bernie Sanders comes down on most policies around where our former Conservative Prime Minister did ... and Sanders calls himself a socialist.

The whole of USA politics is bizarrely right wing; that's why they spend more per-capita on health care than any other western nation and still do not have universal health care. It's also why they want to punish poor people for being poor. Right wing politics has always held to views that see poverty as either a punishment from God or as the result of laziness and moral decrepitude. The USA being bizarrely right wing is also why voters were deceived by a billionaire into voting for him because "he understands us and will help us" and now that he is President the folk from poor states who voted for him seem surprised that their health care insurance would be removed if he got his way and their taxes would hardly change even though billionaires would receive huge tax cuts. Obviously Donald is in the job for the benefits he can accrue for himself which explains why he refuses to reveal his tax records and why he failed to divest himself of his companies and investments that will benefit from USA taxpayer funded largess.

You can save your indignation. The USA was not forced into the fight. The money interests (the ones Hitler was always condemning in his speeches) wanted the US to enter the war, and they were having a hard time of it because the US people didn't. So they provoked the Japanese by having the US government put Japanese Americans in concentration camps *- **and threatened the entire Japanese economy by having the US cut off their oil supply.

So the Japanese were provoked, and they attacked, as planned, and the US entered the war.

*happened after pearl harbor, but had been planned before it.

**happened before pearl harbor, but is left out in most popular fiction and movie entertainment. Most Americans are brought up to believe it's just a matter of "we good, them evil". As of 911, not much has changed in this rhetoric, nor the stupidity of the common populace who just believes it.

This thread has gotten just plain absurd, laughable and silly..... and nothing to do with the topic before us.

But is has everything to do with the topic before us, especially for those of us who are willing to stand up to Nazi sympathisers.

It's all because of this mysterious guy:

What precipitated the rally was the removal of Confederate symbols. The news source does not state what caused the riots except that tensions were high.

Too bad Lamm didn't upload this as "USA" (for discussion by citizens of the USA). To my knowledge, few Canadian or Australian citizens voted in the last USA presidental election, and there are few statues of pre-American Civil War Americans in Australia or Canada. They probably do have neo-Nazis but I suspect condemn them as powerfully as USA citizens do (including our President).

Are you disappointed that the discussion hasn't excluded views with which you disagree?

I just find it..... a tad inappropriate.... for NON CITIZENS in other countries ripping on OTHER nations (often about which they know little or nothing).... I don't hear US citizens going on and on and on and on about the Queen of the UK having not been chosen by popular vote for all UK registered voters, I don't here Americans going on and on and on about the president of France or Germany or Italy or Japan or the PM of Canada or Australia.... yet, for some reason, I find that occasionally there are people who know REMARKABLY little about the USA and who often have never even been here declaring themselves experts on the USA and ripping on everything and everyone here. I just find it inappropriate, perhaps a bit rude, and often displaying a lot of ignorance. And again, I just don't find it often in reverse. I don't know, but I suspect that Australia and Canada have their OWN problems that maybe should be the focus of Australians and Canadians since they MAY be in a position to do something about it IN THEIR OWN country. Hey, if you don't like the USA, don't move here (kind of simple, isn't it?). Now, if you've solved every problem of every kind in Canada or Australia and if the USA is about to annex either country, well, then.....

Yes, sometimes grave issues arise in other countries. As in Nazi Germany. And of course, the PM of the UK applied radical appeasement and so the UK may perhaps be responsible for what Hitler did..... it's true too that the USA was overly isolationistic toward Hitler and so like the UK, appeared to give Hitler a "Green Light." Such can happen (we have perhaps a similar situation with North Korea and ISIS now) but I find comparisons between Hitler and ISIS made to Trump, Americans and the USA to be.... well..... offensive and silly, and of course requires that you just entirely and absolutely dismiss and ignore and evade what Trump actually said and what Americans thinks as a whole and what modern America stands for.

Canadians and Australians (who may well be German citizens today if it were not for the USA in WW1 and WW2?) perhaps think that their nations and leaders are perfect, sinless and void of any problems - and because they are non-citizens of the the USA and because the USA has not yet reached absolute perfection void of any problems, they should rip on the USA. I permit that. I just find it a tad inappropriate. And the irony of there NEVER been a thread here about the horrors of Canada or Australia (or the UK) a possible indication that perhaps Americans are just more polite or respectful of other soverign nations, especially democracies?

As I already said, I am a US citizen. Embarrassed to be one, but one all the same.

Last sentence: that may very well be true.
We Dutch put our pride in pointing fingers and being blunt, which Americans perceive as rude. But no problem if you say my country sucks in things, that we have abortion, euthanasia, we're famous of hookers, free sex, legal pot. I won't get offended if someone points out stuff in my country. Why would I get offended about that? I don't get offended personally. I just happen to live here.
I read the majority of Jews in WWII in my country were betrayed by Dutch traitors, they did a worse job than the Germans. It's the truth. But I didn't do it, so why would I get offended if someone points it out?

You were kidding in your last sentence, weren't you? ... because that is utterly asinine. You made me laugh today. Thank you.
