Perhaps I'm wrong, but I understand "phobia" to be, by definition, irrational... far in excess of what's reasonable.
I don't like mice. And I won't think about rats. Funny... because I've done a lot of camping (especially as a boy in the BSA) and never gave a thought to what might be... um... there. But we occasionally get one in the house (NO IDEA how - maybe kids and not closed doors) and ... yeah.... phobia. I don't like spiders either but I can deal okay with that; they are easy to dispatch. I have no clue where either of these phobias come from. But they are both irrational... beyond what is reasonable and prudent.
I'm afraid of Satan, sin and heresy... but that's rational.
