How did it happen?

Was there much damage done to your car?

Were you injured?

I managed to back several cars into posts over the course of three decades. Never been in a serious accident with over half a million miles of driving. Must have an angel watching over me. Rarely have I run into an other car. Last i recall was in the 1970s when with bald tires I slid on ice gently into someones fender. I have been rear ended several times in full sized pickup trucks so sustained no appreciable damage but the person rear ending me sometimes had the whole grill and lights smashed out.

My son had his focus totaled when someone cut across the road in front of him and had the rear of his Fusion mashed pretty badly when it was rear ended at a light, but that was repaired and I now have that car.

My first accident wasn't with another car. It was with a 'hit and run' deer. I was driving on a fairly busy road and out of nowhere a deer hit the front driver panel, rolled over the hood and took off running. I was driving a small Hyundai Excel at the time. I pulled off the road to survey the damage. I had a large dent in the panel and a smaller dent on the hood.

I called the police to come out so I could report it to my insurance company. I was shaken up but not injured. I was more worried about what happened to the deer. The police officer checked the area but didn't find it.

My first car accident I was a kid riding with my mother and I don't remember it, if that counts. Neither of us were injured.

My first car accident as an adult was pretty serious. I was in the right lane, going around a slight bend, and approaching a car in the lane to the left of me to pass. As I approached, a car on the opposite side of the road made a left to cross the road I was on into a side street. The driver made the turn in time to miss the car to my left, but since I was passing the car to my left left me blind to the crossing car, and I smacked right into it at high speed after only a second or so of brakes when I realized I was going to hit it.

My car was totaled. My seat belt didn't lock nor did the air bag release so I slammed hard against the steering wheel. Luckily, I had only minor injuries. The passenger of the other vehicle was killed.
