Sometimes I browse them. Usually most of what's on offer is stuff people are getting rid of for a reason.

I wouldn't buy most of the things the article thinks we should always grab. I don't really want to be stuck with a single-use item that turns out not to work and has no warranty, I wouldn't want someone else's gym equipment that might have been abused, and so on. If it's not something I'd expect to be able to fix if it had issues I'd either not buy it, or expect a rock bottom price on it.

In the past I used to buy watches from yard sales. If they didn't work that was fine, often all they needed was a new battery and if they needed a new movement that was easy enough. I've still got a rather nice Rotary watch I bought for next to nothing that turned out to work perfectly with a new battery. I should probably try to sell it, I don't wear it now I have a smartwatch. But then I don't know if anybody wears regular watches any more, with the advent of smartwatches and cellphones.
