some it already has but if people truly care then that wont come up
It's not necessary to avoid the topic, just discuss it so that people can respectfully express their views.
I've had a few discussions with people I disagree with politically where we've talked about why we believe our preferred party's methods are better than the alternatives. The people whose views I respect engage in a way that looks at pros and cons, considers what works and what doesn't, acknowledges shortcomings in their approaches and advantages of alternative and opposing approaches, and so on.
I have very little respect for people who simply call me an idiot or worse because I vote one way and they vote the other way.
