Why should I let you into my heaven, asks God. How do you reply?

I think I would answer, 'If you are asking me that then you are not the God I have been following, as He knows me and knows my heart as well as everything I have done and promised me a place in heaven with His Son Jesus. If that is not you then I will look elsewhere.'

If that were the case, God could not engage in judgment, nor would we face the final judgment, yet the Bible (which we say we believe) teaches that there will be one.

One of two Kennedy's "Evangelism Explosion" questions....I like it (a lot) because it gets to the issue of justification (narrow) and one's view of that.

My answer (as one now Protestant)...

Because of Your amazing grace, unconditional love, boundless mercy toward me.... through the Blood of the Lamb, Your Son, the Incarnate God, who lived and died and rose again for me.... which I embrace by Your gift of faith.

There's only one answer (initially) (not so much an answer, but a reply) that we ALL, every one, can and should agree on, if we're honest.

I will give it in another post, ...
I'm curious to see if anyone else is thinking of it and posts it.

When you think of the honest reply, it may bring tears, as it is doing to me right now, and then when you think of the following answer , (again, really the only one, and its for all of us) it may bring even more tears of a different, indescribable kind.....

(To be continued, be back, maybe an hour)

Praise the Lord Jesus Christ!

There was a Dutch guy who kicked everyone out of offices. That was his job. So they had this joke. He came to the heaven gate and Peter said: you can't come in.
He said: No but some need to get out here!

I was your enemy, separated from you by my evil thoughts and actions.

Yet now you have reconciled me to yourself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, you have brought me into your own presence, and I am holy and blameless as I stand before you without a single fault. May Jesus Christ be praised.

You shouldn't. I'm a sinner tainted not only by Original Sin, but by every sin I've committed in my lifetime. Yet, I am baptized and by Your own Word, I have been absolved of all my sins, so the life I live, I live in Christ. Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of my Faith has, by His Life, Death and Resurrection, won my salvation, though I am all undeserving. I am here by Your Will and I am eager to submit to that Will and serve You. Thank you. Amen.

First one to get the reply part right! God bless you. Yes, the only thing we should really say, and it applies to EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US, if we're honest, is: "You shouldn't."

It really brings me to tears (again now) when I think about it...
But just tears turn to tears with joy as I think about the whole answer:

"You shouldn't...except...Jesus saved me."

Hallelujah! Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

~1Peter1:3-9~

I pray this to be for EVERY member and visitor here...May God bless you with His love and grace and salvation in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Surely that depends on what the judgement looks like?

The bible teaches that if your name is written in the book of life then you will be with Jesus in heaven. But I believe there will still be judgement of the things we have done and some of us will find ourselves saved but in the same state that a person escaping from a flaming building is saved!

There are two judgements, the Great White Throne Judgement, and the Judgement seat of Christ

You have to give account of every word. That's why it's good to ask forgiveness for every bad word and renounce it. Or ask Him to control your tongue by praying in tongues.

Every man no matter what, no matter how good our works are, no matter how far along or short we are in faith... We are still sinners further than we can ever imagine.
I honestly believe this now, that we are worse than we can even conceive... its sad but we can rejoice in Christ Jesus and follow is example even though we can never ever be this man - complete in our time here on earth, ever.
Oh gosh, does this mean Im lutheran?

I'm not sure if it means that. It may be you are taking your time to think about the issues.

As Pete from the UK said, God would not ask me that question since He is the one who died for me and clothes me with righteousness. At Jesus' baptism the Holy Spirit descended upon him and at my own baptism I was given the gift of the Holy Spirit so that when God sees me He sees His Son with whom He is well pleased. The good works I do have already been set aside for me to do them by the Holy Spirit and the judgment received are on account of the faith He has given to me in Christ Jesus. It is Jesus that makes any of us worthy for heaven.

God doesn't ask such a stupid question.

That is right. It's a question a Presbyterian minister thought would be good for Calvinistic evangelism. I do not know if it worked well.
