It seems that bill you linked was introduced and that's it. I guess they didn't think it was important to continue?
Given the time since the bill was forwarded on, I'd say you're right. Democrats are majority in the House, which has first look and control over any bill proposed. They aren't there to help people with the high COBRA premiums. Hubby was in that predicament when he left work to move with me to where we live now. Never made a claim, never used the insurance, but month after month there was a little bit more added to the premium bill. Finally, he cancelled when we realized, if we had that premium money in a high yield savings account every month, we could at least put a nice down payment on any hospital bill. And enter into a payment agreement after.
My daughter, when she got furloughed, was given one month of her insurance and that's all. She looked into COBRA but it was too much money and she had to apply for Medicaid but never heard back until she finally got rehired by her company. The system is awful.
I agree. We're always going to be struggling to make ends meet as long as our lawmakers seat makes them millionaires, and the money leads them to forget they were once one of us. One of the biggest lobbies out there is the Insurance industry. The Pharmaceutical Industry. When we know that, it makes sense to realize whom Congress is really working for.
I watched Nancy Pelosi say about the then Obama care insurance bill, that they, the House, had to pass it so as to find out whats in it.
Boy I would love to know how much money was weighing in her pockets to make her say something that ridiculous on the record.
