If one counts Jewish as a race then she is wrong. The Nazis hated Jews, for them it was about race because they regarded Jews as a race. So, as far as the perpetrators of the genocide against Europe's Jews were concerned it was about race, and Whoopi Goldberg is wrong.

If one counts Jewish as a people rather than as a race, which may be closer to the truth as far as genetics is concerned, then Whoopi Goldberg is partly right, but the holocaust is still about the Nazis exterminating a people - which they saw as a race. So, Whoopi Goldberg is wrong.

Think about what is at stake here. If the Jews are a race, they are innocent victims of Hitler. If they are a religion as Whoopi says, they are part of the reason Hitler came against them and share the blame. If you read their bible the Talmud, they place gentiles on the same level they place cattle. To be used for their benefit. They also teach that Jesus is in hell boiling in human waste. Remember God placed them under his wrath until the end of the world.

Good point, New Creation! I suppose it's because there are people who have the same narrowminded and arrogant attitudes that the regulars on that show have. So they like hearing someone considered to be a celeb "seconding" their own prejudices.

In this case, Whoopi doesn't even seem to know how to explain what it is that she believes about the issue that's causing the uproar.

The Bible says they are a religion.

This is why blood did not make one an Israelite. Scripture says; “And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people (family); he hath broken my covenant.” Genesis 17:14 (KJV 1900) So Israel was always a Church/State based on religion, not a race.

Incidentally: The Jewish Almanac – 1980 Chp. 1, pg.3 "Identity Crisis" agrees and says: "Strictly speaking, it is incorrect to call an ancient Israelite a "Jew" or to call a contemporary Jew an "Israelite" or a "Hebrew."
