Out of the people you know or have read about which person do you most admire - I know some will be tempted to say Jesus Christ and that is a wonderful testimony to our Lord but I am asking about people other than God :)

The Apostle Paul gave up so much to follow the Lord and suffered so much but ended up having a profound impact on Christianity.

St. Paul comes to mind.....

St. Luther and King Josiah would be on the list but St. Paul would be probably be on the top of mere mortals.

I am quite impressed by many of the saints both under the old covenant and under the new as well as the saints canonised by the Catholic Church and also men and woman among the wise pagans such as Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Men like Dietrich Bonhoeffer set an example of courage in the face of evil; they too attract my admiration. And even politicians who manage to speak to the world words that heal and help are also worthy of admiration for the things they said, men like Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandella, and several of the Popes - I include them among politicians because of their role as head of state.

Even though I hold a number of contemporary commentators in high regard, I would have to say that Gordon D. Fee (AoG) and Anthony C. Thiselton (Anglican) are currently at the top of my appreciation list.
