When your team may lose in sports is it okay to pray that they will win?

What is prayer for?
Should a Christian spend "God's time" on trivial matters like letting one's sporting team win?
Or is it right and proper for a Christian to petition God for matters that re, objectively speaking, not very significant?

This is something that's real life, all right. People do pray for victory in the game even when advised to pray instead for their team members to perform up to their abilities, or not be injured, etc.

From Scripture, it appears that praying about even trivial matters like this one is okay. Whether they will move God to intervene, though, is another matter.

Praying for a sports team sounds stupid, but what is not significant? I once was outside with my kids and another kid and it started to rain, so they could hide in the carriage bike and I prayed that the rain would stop. Immediately when I prayed that, it stopped and it started to hail. Hilarious.
