What's the smallest sized house you'd like to live in?

We bought the house we live in now for the location. But it's big. We don't even really use most of it so I'd love to downsize when my husband retires. What size house works perfectly for you?

Up until I was two we (apparently) lived in the upstairs of a duplex. It was still a good size, though, so I suspect we had good room

Is that the smallest size house you'd like to go back living in?

We currently live in a 1400 sq ft house which is the smallest we have lived in. We have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The only thing I would change would be a couple of hundred more sq ft and a 4th bedroom. We have all the rooms we need, but another bedroom that is a dedicated guest room would be nice.

Hard to say without knowing circumstance.

When my wife and I were first married we lived in a studio apartment that was maybe 500 square feet. It worked for a couple of years but we had long outgrown it by then. If circumstances made it necessary we theoretically could do it again but it would involve such a huge downsizing neither of us would want to if any other options existed.

If you're talking about situations other than necessity I'd really want 3/4 bedrooms to have space for guests, although one bedroom could go away if I had a suitable other space to be a work area. I'd really like a decent size basement or attic to be a workshop, and a reasonable size living/dining room and kitchen.

1600 square feet. Our current house.

I've lived in apartments smaller than that, however.

I don't remember the square footage of my home, but we have 3 levels that are all finished. 4 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. I'd love to have a 2 bedroom 2 bath house but with all our current stuff we would need probably 3 bedrooms and a storage area.

I grew up in a house that was 900 sq feet and we had 1 bathroom. My sister and I shared a bedroom until the dining room was turned into her bedroom. The bedrooms were very tiny.

So I guess I'm looking more at 1,200 to 1,400 sq foot home as being a good size for the future. With basement because I hate tornadoes. We need a 2 car garage too. I'd love a sun room or screened in porch.
