The Psalmist was in a quandry because he did not understand why Our Father was so interested in man. Why do you think our Father in Heaven is so interested in mankind?

We are made in his likeness and he created us so he loves us. As an artist I can relate because even though in the beginning I'm so excited about my piece, there is a point in my artwork where it's not working out right as I wanted...yet I eventually end up loving it because I made it. It is a reflection of me.

Adam and Eve were made in God's image..... we're in Adam's image. Which is what makes His UNCONDITIONAL love remarkable. All love the loveable, but God loves His enemies and the unloveable.

I see that our Father created man as an extension of Himself much as our children are extensions of us.

The Psalm you quoted is part of duet I'll be singing at church sometime. It delves into how God is so great and mighty yet who are we? God's answer is Be still and know I am God.

The psalmist asks "what is man" as rhetoric to help emphasise the answer that the rest of his psalm contains.
