What do you think are some of the benefits to having an evening meal with your family?

How often do you sit down and have an evening meal with your kids? How do you think this effects your family?

When our kids were growing up and did this almost every evening.

this should be a family norm. it starts breaking up when the kids take on jobs and college. There is something to be said for a large family (6 or more perhaps) and well spaced, so that one always has children around the house as they are a blessing. Worst is when they move away and then are not around much.
