What sorts of things do you do when you're in pain?

Depends on the nature of the pain. Usually I just live with it but every once in a while I'll take acetaminophen for it.

I've never been in the kind of pain that requires prescription painkillers so can't really comment on that.

I sometimes get bad pain in my leg that makes it hard to fall to sleep, but it is not common and I am averse to taking pain killers if I can help it. Where I must take pain killers is with migraine headaches, which I get some 3 to 4 times a year. Then, at the onset, I take a 200 mg Motrin and I feel no pain, just a very slight hint of nausea for the day, but can keep on doing whatever I need to do. Without the Motrin, the pain is fierce and I would have to go in a dark room and lay in bed suffering. I am thankful that the Motrin knocks it out because I know of others who still suffer and some for a couple of days with these kind of headaches.

I don't like taking pain medication so I'll distract myself by doing something I enjoy.

The worst pain I ever had was a tie between childbirth and the cancer I had on my tongue. The childbirth was relieved by having the baby ;) The tongue cancer, well, I had the tumor removed. But prior to having surgery, I couldn't sleep well due to the pain and medicine wouldn't touch it. So I concentrated on my big toe on my right foot...trying to make the pain there instead. Do you know you can actually make your body feel pain by thinking there is pain in a certain location? I made myself believe that I was sending the pain down to my big toe and it actually helped me fall asleep.

Cry... whine.... complain.... feel really sorry for myself.... require all others pity me and take constant care of me... generally act like a baby.

My wife rolls her eyes.

That is interesting. Does it work?

I am a firm believer in old ways and health remedies. So I always watch for them.

Pain is something, once it reaches a certain degree, we cannot endure. Once you come to the place that there is no position you can get in, you can't sleep, nothing you can do to relieve it, you have to resort to some sort of medication.

So, do those white willow bark capsules work?

They do. At least from personal experience. Everybody's pain threshold are different so what works for me may not work for others.

Always have something on your stomach if you decide to try them. I take two with water. You should start to notice the effects in less than an hour. Don't drink a lot of water with them. Just enough to wash them down.

If you still feel the pain after a few hours add another one.

That should suffice. But as I mentioned, everyone's pain threshold is different.

I hope they help you.
