A character on a tv show can't do anything in real life. It's whatever the writers want him to do that he'll be able to do and mainly those shows are never going to be real.

Of course, just like the Death Star has enough firepower to destroy an entire planet and Emperor Palpatine rules over the entire galaxy.

Spiderman can shoot webs from his fingers. Superman can fly and stop bullets. Gandalf can slam his staff into the ground and fight the Balrog.

All these things are possible in a fantasy world. None of it is relevant, beyond a bit of entertainment value, in the real world.

Q from Star Trek —within the fiction of the series, absolutely has the ability to affect entire planets with his mind.
Here’s the breakdown.

🌀 Q’s Powers in Star Trek
The Q Continuum is portrayed as a race of near‑omnipotent, extradimensional beings. Q (the one played by John de Lancie) demonstrates abilities that include:
🌍 Planet‑level manipulation
Examples:
• Instantly transporting the Enterprise across the galaxy (“Encounter at Farpoint”).
• Altering planetary weather systems.
• Creating or removing entire civilizations in simulations.
• Changing the physical laws of a region of space.
• Sealing off star systems from outside access.
These aren’t portrayed as “telekinesis” in the human sense — they’re more like reality‑level manipulation.

🧠 Does he do it with his mind?
In the show, Q doesn’t need:
• technology
• rituals
• machines
• or even physical contact

He simply wills things to happen.
So yes — in the fictional universe of Star Trek, Q can affect:

• ships
• stars
• planets
• timelines
• entire species
just by thinking it.

⭐ How powerful is he compared to other beings?
Within Star Trek, Q is one of the most powerful entities ever shown, rivaled only by:

The Prophets (Bajoran Wormhole Aliens)
Series:
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Power Level: Reality‑transcending, nonlinear, godlike
Who They Are
The Prophets are non‑corporeal, timeless beings who exist outside linear time inside the Bajoran wormhole. To Bajorans, they are literally gods — and in the show, their abilities justify that title.
Abilities
• See all time at once (past, present, future simultaneously)
• Alter timelines
• Prevent or allow invasions
• Communicate through visions and dreams
• Resurrect or preserve individuals
• Manipulate cosmic events

The Organians
Series: Star Trek: The Original Series
Power Level: Peace‑enforcing, energy‑based, near‑omnipotent
Who They Are
The Organians appear as simple villagers but are actually highly evolved energy beings who long ago transcended physical form.
Abilities
• Instantly stop wars
• Disable weapons across entire fleets
• Paralyze or immobilize starships
• Manipulate matter and energy
• Appear anywhere at will
Narrative Role
They act as cosmic peacekeepers, stepping in only when violence threatens galactic stability.

The Douwd
Series:
Star Trek: The Next Generation
Power Level: Planet‑destroying, reality‑altering
Who They Are
The Douwd are immortal, shapeshifting beings who can appear as any species. Only one is ever shown: Kevin Uxbridge.
Abilities
• Create entire illusions (people, towns, environments)
• Hide his true nature indefinitely
• Erased an entire species (the Husnock) from existence — all 50 billion — with a single act of will
Narrative Role
They represent the danger of unchecked power combined with grief, showing how even a peaceful being can commit cosmic destruction

The Metrons
Series:
Star Trek: The Original Series
Power Level: Space‑manipulating, judgment‑oriented
Who They Are
The Metrons are advanced humanoid‑energy beings who intervene when they believe a species needs to be “taught a lesson.”
Abilities
• Teleport starships across vast distances
• Create artificial battlefields
• Manipulate matter and energy
• Freeze or relocate individuals
• Judge species based on moral development
Narrative Role
They function as cosmic arbiters, testing whether humanity is ready for higher forms of existence.

But Q is the most consistently portrayed as cosmically omnipotent.
