Usually only in stores that don't take my credit card.
I keep a modest amount of cash on hand in case the power goes out or something else knocks the system down for a time. I'd rather not find that when I really need something I can't buy it because my card won't work.
Although credit cards are convenient the thought of a fully cashless society terrifies me. The last thing I want is for every single transaction to be logged forever and ever, and for "the system" to have the right to permanently freeze me out of everything even if it was all a mistake.
Very rarely will I use cash. There are a number of reasons why. First, I'll often end up losing the money. Second, if the purchase goes wrong, you have no way of starting the "chargeback" process that debit and credit cards offer, and finally, it reduces the transmission of viruses and bugs like COVID. There will, however, be times when I would have to use cash.
