Is there an animal that you would want for a pet that is not the norm? Like maybe a pet chicken? Or a crocodile? A fox?

I had a snake for 18 years. I wanted to keep scorpions but my wife said if they arrived she'd be leaving, so I decided against it.

I had a snail. Picked it up from the ditch. After 3 weeks we had enough of it and threw him back. Too much effort to clean the water can.

I think snakes are kinda cute and scorpions are just fascinating. My wife has a pathological hatred of spiders but despite my love of unusual pets I never felt any urge to keep tarantulas. Now I have a cat.

How cute! Walk your alligator instead of your dog.
Oh it's more like a horse.

I had a pet rat but didn't know about it. I found its body when I pulled down the ceiling in the basement. Looks like it had been dead a while.

A guy I knew years ago had pet rats. He used to breed them. He also bred snakes - the breeding pairs of rats were little more than food factories for his snakes. Before I moved away from the area we had been talking about him getting an extra breeding pair so he could supply me with rat pups for my snake.

Our family lived in Kansas for a few years when I was growing up. We had several garter snakes around (outside), a bunny we found abandoned that we nursed to health and then let go into the woods, and rescued a baby bird from the neighborhood dog that was attacking it. Note - don't feed baby birds raw hamburger. They die...

The bunny would come back into the yard every few weeks. It didn't run from us, but we still kept our distance

Now?

Haven't had any too too unusual pets. Mostly stray animals would be the closest.

I had an unusual cat. He had a flea allergy and would sometimes scratch his whole back open, so then he had to wear an old grey sock from my dad and we were vegetarian, so he never got anything decent, just that cheap cat food. So one day I'm looking out of the window and lol I see him out there, he looked like a tramp. He was while wearing that idiotic sock, stealing the bbq rests from the neighbours and he had opened the garbage bag on the street. Funny.
