I'm wondering what you all think about the Supreme Court Ruling that Trump's tariff's are unconstitutional.

I think Trump overstepped his power and that Congress only has the authority to change tariff's

I imagine this will help in reversing things such as our current 33 year record low in balance of trade deficits.

I think it's the correct decision, but this ruling is rather moot. He'll just find another way to implement the tariffs.

From what I have read, it wasn't that all tariffs are unconstitutional, it was that Trump couldn't do it under the IEEPA. Trump can still impose tariffs, but it has to be done under a different type of law.

I've always thought that Congress is the one who has the power to regulate tariff's not the President. If it was that easy I would have thought someone else would have done it before

Other than Nixon, Reagan, George W. Bush, Trump in his first term (section 301) and Biden?

Congress has delegated various trade/tariff powers to the president in various laws since Franklin Roosevelt.

It's really one of the saddest days in American history. The Supreme Court taking a position of judicial activism. Just like all the lower 'activist judge" courts deciding with judicial overreach, going beyond their constitutional authority and the law, to create new laws. The Supreme Court has now assumed the role of Judicial Legislation.

What powers does the Constitution give us to combat this?

It may be illegal to discuss those powers.
Congress has the power to legislate. They also have the power of the purse. Expecting Congress to do anything is not in the realm of reality.
