Defense lawyers for President-elect Donald Trump are using President Joe Biden’s pardon of his son Hunter to argue that Trump’s conviction in his Manhattan hush money case should be dismissed.

“Yesterday in issuing a 10 year pardon to Hunter Biden that covers any and all crimes whether charged or uncharged, President Biden asserted that his son was ‘selectively, and unfairly prosecuted’ and ‘treated differently,’” Trump lawyers wrote in a motion filed Monday.

I'd certainly be interested to know the reality of what happens if a regular citizen lies on the background check. I was under the impression it was a felony. I'm also not entirely sure (and frankly never likely to find out) how the IRS would treat me if I failed to pay seven figures in taxes - would I be able to just say sorry and write a check?

Hunter confessed to the crimes, so how was that unfair prosecution?

The Democrats seem to think that if one of theirs is prosecuted for something they did wrong it's because they are a high profile figure.

Remember Hillary's classified documents, when she apparently thought (c) meant copyright rather than confidential? And she had some number of documents rated secret and top secret on an unsecured server using unapproved devices? I'll bet if you or I did anything like that we wouldn't get away with a lot of stalling and the chance to ask what difference it makes any more.

In business I understand it's a fairly common thing to overstate the value of assets used as collateral for loans and banks pretty much expect people to do it. But apparently if your name begins with D and ends with onald Trump it's a very serious matter that warrants criminal investigation.

There was no twisting, distorting, or reinterpreting of the law by the prosecutor in Hunters case, it was applied the same way it is to everyone in a lower station in life (Yes, people have gone to jail for this more than once).

But that 10 year blanket pardon certainly suggests there were other crimes, maybe lots of them and maybe involving powerful people, that we don't know about and now probably never will.

Wonder what this sort of thing looks like from a Biblical standpoint, and could it be just another sign of the times we are in.

As a parent I can understand him stepping in and pardoning Hunter. That's his son and he wants to protect him. That doesn't make it right, but Presidents can pardon whoever they want.

True, but I can only imagine the howling from the Democrats if Donald Trump were to pardon Jared Kushner for something similar.

Biden is with a corrupt gang. Just cause I think Trump wasn't the best candidate doesn't mean I love the Dems.

Oh, Biden is definitely corrupt. How much Trump is going to reveal to us about it has yet to be made known.
