Q # 1 Are you saved ?

In the sense of justification (narrow): Yes. For I have received the gift of faith in Christ who is the Savior, supplied because of God's unconditional mercy and grace.

Q#2 How did you get saved ?

Jesus did it. By His life, death and resurrection. By HIS works, HIS obedience, HIS perfection, HIS love, HIS heart. HE "earned" it - exclusively and absoutely. God placed the gift of faith (reliance) upon that into my heart.

Q#3 Do we have to Obey God ?

For justification, no (IF I said yes, I would be rejecting Christianity and denouncing the Christ). But in sanctification (narrow), the Law continues.... we ARE called to absolute, divine PERFECTION, HOLINESS and LOVE 24/7, it's just that only God attains that. The Law CANNOT save us for we cannot attain it. We remain sinners because sin = "missing the mark" "falling short of the commands of God" and we do, as Scripture states. We are FORGIVEN sinners but sinners nonetheless.

Lord, have MERCY.
Christ, have MERCY.
Lord, have MERCY.

Q # 1 Are you saved ?

Q#2 How did you get saved ?

Q#3 Do we have to Obey God ?

A #1: God has promised to save[SUP]1[/SUP] those who believe with the kind of faith that produces good works[SUP]2[/SUP] and I rely on God's promises and his faithfulness[SUP]3[/SUP]. I trust him and love him. God be merciful to me, a sinner[SUP]4[/SUP].
A #2: By grace are we saved, says the holy scripture, through faith and that is not something we did for ourselves it is God's gift because we are created in Christ Jesus to do the good things God has reserved for us to do[SUP]5[/SUP].
A #3: Yes we need to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling because it is God who works in us both to choose and to do the things that please him[SUP]6[/SUP].

There are passages of scripture for each statement I made. In fact most of what I typed is quoting holy scripture.

1 God's divine power has given us everything we need to live a truly religious life through our knowledge of the one who called us to share in his own glory and goodness. In this way he has given us the very great and precious gifts he promised, so that by means of these gifts you may escape from the destructive lust that is in the world, and may come to share the divine nature. (2 Peter 1:3-4)

2 How was our ancestor Abraham put right with God? It was through his actions, when he offered his son Isaac on the altar. Can't you see? His faith and his actions worked together; his faith was made perfect through his actions. And the scripture came true that said, "Abraham believed God, and because of his faith God accepted him as righteous." And so Abraham was called God's friend. You see, then, that it is by our actions that we are put right with God, and not by our faith alone. It was the same with the prostitute Rahab. She was put right with God through her actions, by welcoming the Israelite spies and helping them to escape by a different road. So then, as the body without the spirit is dead, also faith without actions is dead. (James 2:21-26)

3 But if we confess our sins to God, he will keep his promise and do what is right: he will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our wrongdoing. (1 John 1:9)

4 But the tax collector stood at a distance and would not even raise his face to heaven, but beat on his breast and said, 'God, have pity on me, a sinner!' (Luke 18:13)

5 For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it. God has made us what we are, and in our union with Christ Jesus he has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

6 So then, dear friends, as you always obeyed me when I was with you, it is even more important that you obey me now while I am away from you. Keep on working with fear and trembling to complete your salvation, because God is always at work in you to make you willing and able to obey his own purpose. (Philippians 2:12-13)
