I bought a brand new Chevy Cavalier when I got my first full time job working in Chicago and needed a reliable car to get me to the train station and back. That reliable car turned out to be a piece of garbage because the computer system kept going all wonky. The men at the service center wouldn't believe me because I was a young female. It took my dad to get involved before they believed it. By then we were fed up and traded in the car for a Nissan Sentra.

I've been richly blessed.... all my cars have been super reliable....

1990 Buick Century Limited V6 Wagon. Gift from my parents for my 16th birthday. Loved it! It was stolen.
1999 Toyota Camry. My moms former car, given to me after my surfmobile was stolen. Loved it! NOTHING ever went wrong with it.
2013 Mazda Miata. The greatest car I ever owned, although tiny and noisey but SO much fun! And very, very reliable (even good gas mileage)
2017 Honda Pilot. Actually, my wife's car as we began to think kids... and her OLD Toyota Corolla was dying. I love it. Very reliable.
2018 Subaru Forester. Replacing my Miata as I began to think of myself more as DAD than fun seeking bachelor. I love it (although it's no sports car, lol). Nothing has ever gone wrong with it.

I tend to use Consumer's Reports to narrow down my car choices....

I must say the worst was a 2001 Ford Ranger. I had nothing but trouble with the hydraulic clutch linkage and associated components.

Best car was a 2001 Chevy S10. Original clutch and hydraulics etc, at 150,000 miles and still functioning flawlessly. I got rid of it because it was so heavily rusted but I regret it because now I have a car and I always had a pickup truck of some sort since 1977.

A 2014 Focus hatchback that had the DCT and it was garbage. Had the clutch packs replaced 3 times in 46k miles. (n)
