Well, that's something I've never heard of before. I have liked veggie burgers but eat hamburger, too. I think they are getting paranoid in NZ!

It did look... interesting. But if it's all vegan, I wonder what the fake cheese is made from? That's what worried me most.

I've tried these as my daughter is a vegan they look and taste just like a meat burger but better since no animal died to get it.. vegan cheese is usually made from soy and that to it's really good.. so go ahead and try it and save the animals along the way..

Too much soy is harmful to the body...so I'll be avoiding all that :)

Not to mention the taste, I had a vegan burger once and that was enough, it is nowhere comparable to a beef burger

Doesn't this burger used genetically modified yeast?

It's been nearly 3yrs since I last ate meat and seriously haven't missed it at all. But there's no point trying to get you lot to stop killing animals just to satisfy your needs.. so I will say no more about it..

I watched a video a few weeks ago that said eventually veggie burgers will be needed to be eaten.

Some people make "vege cheese" from chickpeas. I saw a video about it, they use yeast too.

Here's one

I don't see the point of making vegetarian and vegan versions that apparently look and taste just like meat. If you want to eat meat, eat meat. If you don't want to eat meat, eat something else. If you're eating something else why does it need to taste like meat? Can't people enjoy vegetables without insisting they taste just like meat?

I do not enjoy soy products at all I have tried a couple. I think tofu is one of the worst things ever made to eat so I dont fit in either camp

Tofu is good in Hot and Sour Soup - needs the broth and seasonings to help it out. On its own or otherwise, no. I find it just has a very bland taste

Years ago I'd tried some mushroom based veggie patties. Not too bad.

I love mushrooms but hate to think about how they're grown. Remember to wash thoroughly! :D

It is bland, like curds. It needs salt, spices, and savoury things. It is good with spicy chicken when it is fried with onions, chillies, and savoury sauce.

Tofu is best cooked with lots of oil. The oil is a good lubricant which makes it easier to scrape it off your plate into the trash.
